Jesse Jackson Jr. Apparently In Drug, Alcohol Rehab

Jul 5, 2012 2 Comments Pat Dollard

A condition referred to as “exhaustion” and “grappling with emotional ailments privately”, and requiring the type of long-term inpatient care (read: rehab) his office describes below, is always alcohol and/or drug abuse…

Excerpted from The Wall Street Journal: Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D., Ill.) is undergoing inpatient treatment for “physical and emotional ailments” that are more serious than previously thought, his office said in a news release Thursday.

The congressman’s office had said on June 25 that the 47-year-old son of civil rights leader the Rev. Jesse Jackson had begun a leave of absence on June 10, citing exhaustion and providing no timeline for his return.

“Congressman Jackson’s medical condition is more serious than we thought and initially believed,” the office said in Thursday’s release. “Recently, we have been made aware that he has grappled with certain physical and emotional ailments privately for a long period of time.” It also said, “According to the preliminary diagnosis from his doctors, Congressman Jackson will need to receive extended in-patient treatment as well as continuing medical treatment thereafter.”

An earlier, still briefer statement from Mr. Jackson’s office on June 25 had suggested a less dire assessment, saying that Mr. Jackson, 47, was being treated “for exhaustion” and had been on medical leave since June 10. That statement asked that his family’s privacy be respected.

The statement didn’t say where Rep. Jackson, who was first elected in 1995, is being treated nor did it specify his ailments.

Rep. Jackson’s opponent in November’s election, Republican Brian Woodworth, criticized Rep. Jackson for not disclosing more about his illness. Rep. Jackson’s district is heavily Democratic.

“There’s so many public officials who are being forthright in coming forward with medical conditions. He should follow that precedent,” Mr. Woodworth said. “Just to dispel the rumors, he needs to do more than just say he’s ‘being treated.’”

“It’s not for me to say whether it’s been done correctly,” said Rep. Danny Davis, a fellow Illinois Democrat. “While my approach may have been a different approach, Rep. Jackson and his staff…have a tendency to know what they’re doing. Some people are more forthcoming than others.”

The House ethics committee has been investigating Rep. Jackson’s alleged involvement with the scheme by former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich to sell President Barack Obama‘s former U.S. Senate seat.

Rep. Jackson’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

So, am I to believe what Pat Dollard said because Pat Dollard said it?

Give me a break! whoa

If Dollard is going to accuse a member of Congress of having a substance-abuse problem, then Dollard had better produce evidence to back up that accusation. Otherwise, the accusation is nothing more than partisan ranting.

It's all over the news.
Not just one source.
I'm just guessing and betting that's why he's in-care.

The fact that a member of Congress is undergoing medical treatment is all over the news. However, that news does not include any mention of the Congress member having a substance-abuse problem. Dollard included that accusation without supporting it with real evidence.

Generally, if a politician goes in the spokesperson says they gone in for a stroke, heart attack, etc.

Here, they are staying as low as they can go.

Maybe he's just depressed about being a man and is in for a sex change?

It is still wrong to claim that a politician has a substance-abuse problem without providing any real evidence to support that claim.

I am guessing Crack.........

This is a move out of the Democrat's handbook\playbook. Everytime there are charges or the heat is coming down and they are looking at jail they go into rehab hoping it will go away.

And the majoity of the Kennedy's and Obama. How many Kennedy's have killed, raped, gotten into car accidents or other embarassing situations because they were under the influence or heavily intoxicted? Hell, one of the a Congressman was found passed out in a car or something like that and he was extremly intoxicaed. To make it worse it was a campaign car and he not only faced charges but went into rehab for like the 5th time. Then there is Obama bragging about his drug use in his "Filth" books. laugh

On yeah, the Kennedy I was talking about getting in a car accident while drunk is Ted Kennedy's son. What a coincidence eh? At least he didn't follow in his father;s footsteps and murder a women and cover it up as a car accident. He was also involved in an accident in Rhode Island while driving drunk. Not to mention assaulting a female security guard in Los Angeles (again following in his fathers footsteps, remember when he and Dodd attempted to sexually assault a waitress in the famous "Sandwich" incident?" Then his admissions to being addicted to Coccaine, Alcohol, Onycontin and Abien.

Teddy Kennedy had a vision for America. Sadly, that vision was usually blurred by a few too many Chivas & sodas. Now Patrick Kennedy is doing everything he can to honor his dad’s legacy.

Rep. Patrick Kennedy was spotted doing vodka shots last week at a Capitol Hill bar just hours after he spoke about his history of substance abuse at a charity event.

An HOH tipster and a pal were sitting at the bar at the Capitol Lounge around 11 p.m. on Tuesday when the Rhode Island Democrat walked in and took a seat between the pair.

The tipster’s friend asked the Congressman what he was drinking, and when Kennedy replied vodka, the group ordered vodka shots, the tipster tells us.

After slamming down the first round, another was ordered, then a third. Our tipster and his friend stopped doing shots, but Kennedy drank three more until the bartender cut him off, at least from obtaining any more shots, our tipster says.

Our tipster adds Kennedy was in a lively mood, joking with others at the bar and even boasting about President Barack Obama, calling him “the best president ever.”

When our tipster countered: “Wait a second. What about your uncle?” — referring, of course, to President John F. Kennedy — the younger Kennedy jovially responded, “Oh yeah! Good one,” and slapped our tipster’s back, he says.

It’s always nice to see a young man so dedicated to following his family’s cherished traditions.
