Texas Teacher Brittni Colleps Gets 5 Years in Prison in Group Sex Scandal

A Texas high school teacher and mother of three was sentenced today to five years behind bars after a jury found her guilty of having sex with five male students, four of whom she had group sex with while being videotaped.

Brittni Colleps, 28, a former English teacher, was convicted of 16 counts of having improper relationships with students. Since the young men were all 18 at the time, she was not charged with statutory rape.

The jury did not recommend a fine or community supervision.

The case against Colleps has been filled with graphic testimony and cellphone video that allegedly showed Colleps having group sex with the four students in her home during April and May of 2011. The fifth student had a sexual encounter with Colleps on a separate occasion.

Prosecutors said the group sex occurred while her children and husband, an Army specialist, were away.

The video was shown to the jury this week.

Shshs I'm sorry but this is just so stupid. Yeah lets put those that had sex with others that was of age and all agreed in prison. OHhhhhhhhhhhhh please...Like our prison system is not already full.

I understand the only reason all this came up was due to she was a teacher. And due to other Teachers having sex with students this law was put in place.

Excuse me those other teachers were having sex with a minor this is not one of those cases..

I think this whole issue is bs....

I see it as like any professional having sex with clients.

The boys all were of adult age and she shouldn't be in jail, just suspended for having sex with clients.

I see both sides

on the one hand EVERYONE was 'of age' and consented (possibly?)

on the other hand, they were still in HIGH SCHOOL, and possibly that changes the usual consenting 'adult' dynamic especially with someone who is in a position of authority over them, their grades,,,etc,,,




Id say if she was just a college student who met them and had relations, that would be clearly no legal issue

but her POSITION as their high school teacher, changes the dynamic and possibly the level of coeercion...

its definitely an issue with her employer


but Im also considering the 'coercion' and 'capacity to consent' issue

similar to if a female 'of age' is drunk and 'consents'

the age alone doesnt always provide a legal expectation of consent without coercion

Regardless just take her Teaching License away from her but.......Prison that is a bit much..

Americans are just screwed up about sex but in this case for sure a professional conducting herself (or himself in any case) with a client and students? So much for trust and professional ethics!
