Each time I have ever read the book before watching the movie, the movie could never hold up to the story.
In this case, I think I'll wait for the movie.

I think in this case it has more to do with the level of "porn" you are use to reading.
I have read a lot of forums about this book. (being a writer myself with a published book in this genre you can understand my reasoning for keeping up with the hype).

It's a love/hate thing. For most women who are not use to reading this type of genre, this book is a taste (sorry for any pun intended here) of that type. For others who have read and even perhaps experienced it, this book is ...."silly"

Well like all things it needs to be put into perpective. If your chosing to fuel the fire of desire all the time, regardless of how you do that, the more it will take to quench that fire. It is simple to understand why we like the taste of the books we consume (see what I did there too. ). But when we find we are always walking on fire, it is no mistery. We fed the fire.

Some people like living turned on. I dont. I guess if I had a partner right now to release that build up energy with, I might feel differently.

What makes me laugh is the amount of people who put women down for enjoying these books. Whether it's because they don't enjoy that genre of books, or they feel they've read better written books, or whatever else the reason may be, it happens a lot.

It's just a book. If you enjoyed it, great. If not, there are many others out there for you to read.

Oh I absolutely agree. I've seen a lot of that in the forums as well. Honestly, I have to say even though the book was not of interest to me I am glad it happened. I have actually sold quite a few books of my own because of this "epidemic". lol.

I've seen many people say that the only kind of women who are into these books are one who lack in their own sex lives, which isn't true by a long shot.

They're not for everyone, though.

I'm happy to hear more of your own books have sold!

Thank you.

Lacking in their own sex lives? no...just perhaps a few fantasies that just cannot be lived out...or just too many thoughts in her head.

Eh, if it gives people new fantasies or new things to try, I'm all for it.

You don't have to write anything for me, but if you have something already written I'll take look. You said you used to post stuff on here?

There used to be a thread called "bed time stories" in the sex threads.

I posted quite a few thing on that thread.

And I'd love to write something new, just give me a few guidelines as to your likes and dislikes.
I'd have fun with it.

I bought the first book...because of all the hype.
I couldn't finish it. I give the author applause for her success but honestly it was quite amateur for me.
Christian started out as amazing...but really couldn't make me believe what was so awesome about Ana. The repetitious lip biting and eye rolling and emails....I thought I was reading something from junior high.
I did stop reading it. I want to see the movie. Praying that it will be made by someone who can turn this into more of an adult interest.

There's a reason why authors out there admit to never finishing it. The idea started as a Twilight Alternate Universe fan fiction story and she had a small following at fanfiction.net. All she did was change the character's names so Meyer won't sue for copyright.

IMO Christian really started out like a typical jerk off jock from high school and turned into some kind of wounded rapist in the end of the first book. I think because James didn't change Ana's (I mean Bella Swan's) description you got someone boring plain girl and pretty much a Mary Sue. Ana is Bella Swan and Christian is Edward Cullen. Its silly because its fan fiction... and I gotta admit, some of the worst writing is fan fiction stories out there. And when they aren't stopped you get this...America loves sex and accepts pain and sex, it was perfect. There's no real interest. Its pretty predictable that anyone would want someone as white trash as Christian. I mean Edward, the billionaire.

My inner goddess says the movie might be bigger than the "books." I mean PWP.

Its a yawn-inducing read. I don't know any sane person out there who talks or thinks this way. Stories that are told in first person POV better hold something substantial. There was no backbone to this story. None of the concept is realistic and it's definitely a story that's been covered before in various versions. I never really believe the hype when it comes to books selling over a million copies. The Twilight movie franchise became bigger than the books. I imagine this will garner attention simply because of the subject matter.

I've never watched or read twilight, so those books/characters had nothing to do with my thoughts on these books.

The author is a fanatic of Twilight and fan fictions of the books/movies. They are a direct reflection of the horrible writing style the author projects.

Again, starting out as fan fiction for books/movies I have never watched or read has nothing to do with me liking the books.

I think the majority of those who are in love with 50 Shades of Grey are a first time reader of this type of book, which is a good thing. (I mean, look at how popular they have become). If everyone loved the same type of book it'd be a boring world and too predictable.
