Topic: Why not sex on the first date?

I've read in this forum a number of times that women decide whether or not they want to have sex with a man within only a few seconds. If this is true, why would you want to put it off? Are you afraid he'll think poorly of you if you have sex too soon? That he won't respect you? Or is it some kind of power play/head game?

I would think for all of those reasons. Some men do think poorly of women who have sex too quickly. Some won't respect them enough to call again. And some just go with what feels right, whether it's the first date or later.

Some women also think that the longer they make a guy wait, the more likely he'll stick around. I don't think that's true, though.

I say if it feels right at the time, go for it.

Why not sex on a first date? Is it some kind of power game? R u serious dude? I think a woman would be able to know if she would EVENTUALY sleep with a guy she likes. You have to keep a man on his toes, it is trashy, & slutty to give it up on a first date even a 2nd & 3rd date, Not my goodies anytime soon, if he cant respect that than buh-bye someone else will. Its Called RESPECT. Respect is something a lot of people are lacking these days.

So, if the woman holds out until the fourth date, she's not trashy and slutty?

Generally speaking, I agree with this. Every date I've been on in the last several years has ended with sex. And most of those that didn't there just wasn't any chemistry.

Have to keep a man on his toes? Sounds like a power play to me.

My point is, if you want to have sex and know you're going to sooner or later, why not just have sex?

Playing hard to get is a head game. It's an attempt to make others think what you have is of more value than what EVERY OTHER WOMAN ON THE PLANET HAS. You ain't special in this department.

Insisting he pay for several dates to earn having sex is nothing but legal prostitution.

So, either she's a hooker or she plays head games. In either case, men are better off avoiding women like that.

First of all, women who "know they want to have sex within the first few seconds of meeting a guy" is not true of every woman, just sayin... For those who have experienced this but did not have sex right away, there could be several explanations ...Maybe the guy didn't share her feelings, or maybe he was on the down low, or maybe the woman was menstruating and did not want her first sexual encounter with him to be experienced under those circumstances, or maybe she had a yeast infection or herpes and was not ready to divulge either, or maybe she forgot to pack a condom and was too embarrassed to ask if he had one, maybe she was too nervous, or too shy, or too scared, or too religious, or too WHATEVER!...Why must you always assume the woman is making a power play or playing head games with the man?.....And FYI, sometimes we meet guys we want to have sex with and we really don't give a damn if they respect us in the morning or not because we feel exactly the same way some of you guys feel....whoa

Valid reasons. However, I think you'd have to agree that the poster above, by making the statement "keep a man on his toes" is suggesting it's a head game.

Of course I agree, it's obvious...But I said "why must you ALWAYS assume...Do the actions or motives of some women dictate or determine the actions or motive of all?....If you answer no to my question, would it be fair for me to say your OP is rude and sexist?...

I asked the question and gave a couple of explanations. I always assume that everyone is out to get what they want by any legal means they have at their disposal, man or woman. If you want to call that sexist, it has little to do with me.

I'd be more apt to call this latest answer (?) paranoia...But thanks for trying....

I don't think the OP was sexist. I think those are all reasons women hold off on having sex. And yes, some women play games, just as some men do. It doesn't mean all men or all women will be the same when it comes to sex, though.

I actually read a few articles and it was the men that stated if a woman slept with them on the first date; they knew she wasn't the right girl for them; did not respect them, and certainly wouldn't call them again. So; I am sure there is some truth to you comment as its the men saying this; not the women.

Well, we've already agreed that at least SOME women play head games. Should I trust all women and allow myself to be manipulated by the bad ones or should I protect myself from the possibility of manipulation all the time?

It's like owning a gun. 99% of the time you don't need it. But, there's that one time when you do. So, do you throw out the gun because you so seldom have a need for it? Or do you make sure it's close by just in case?

It ain't paranoia if they really are out to get you.

These are stupid men that think any woman that sleeps with them is a slut. To them all women are either sluts or virgins.

Well, I think some women believe all men are that way for some reason. I don't believe all men are that way. Just as I don't believe all women play games, either.

If I go out with a hot gal and there is a strong physical attraction, I always have sex on the first date.

Whether she's present for the sex is irrelevant.smokin

I don't think it is trashy or slutty to sleep on a first date. If you both know you like each other it could be a lasting relationship.
