Thank you Alex, Andrea, Anoasis, and my comprehensive friend voileazur,
drinker

My greatest and most immeadiate concerns, are with my nephew. However, I also have concerns with the many other young men and women being "Volunteered" for this war.
I worry not just for their immeadiate future, but also for their long term mental health. What is to happen when all these kids come back and try to cope with civilian life again. How many will turn to substance abuse and addictions, How many will become violent members of our society trying to deal with ghosts and the hauntings of combat. These young men and women. like my nephew, already have problems dealing with things that have happened in their lives. They are already exhibiting problems associated with growing up in broken families, with alcholic and drug addicted parents. How can teaching them to kill people they dont know, handle weapons, and watch their friends die help them?
The military already has a history with not providing treatment to the mental health disorders associated with PTSD. Now they are taking these kids who already have mental anquish, and telling their parents that they will fix them. They do this to avoid a draft. A draft that would surely put the 70% of Americans that already disagree with the war, into an all out revolt and protests in the streets.
Their perversion with this war has no limits. They care not for these young men and women (I keep wanting to call them kids) or their families. Cannon fodder invisible, I believe that would be a better term. Does this government have a plan to fix these youngins? I dont think so. What will happen to our society when these kids with their new found skills and problems hit the streets back here in the good ole US of A.? Has the military thought about that? I get so mad writing this I forget what Im writing about! **** it! "IT" being Dubya........

they never have a fix for the returning vets. ill give you that one. i think they just wait for most of them to die off.
the big thing for me is that these liberals are always screaming get out. how does that effect the troops and the good work that is going on every day? if we pull out early, all thier sacrifice will be truly in vain. i dont like this or any war but were in it so liking it is not really important. doing the right thing is.. in the war as well as the returning vets. how do you think they feel when they hear everything negative all the time on the news? there is in fact a lot of good things happening over there that the media simply dont report.

That is the only angle to filter this otherwise 'mad' issue through!

Using human beings as 'cannon fudder' as you say Fanta, in a war where only a few Big Boys get their fixes, is plain immoral, wrong, and in no way should be tolerated by 'We the people'!!!

Tell us about the "good things" "we"'re doing over there.
(Aside from killing hundreds of thousands of civilians)

Actually, rambill, I AM in touch with plenty of active and retired
military personel. And I'm not particularly suprised you think
some other country's women and children are worth less than American ones. That thinking is what CAUSES war. We have NO right
to be in Iraq - let alone committing genocide. "Better their civilians than our's"? Guess what: Now, many relatives of the (yes) hundreds of thousands killed THIS time - NOT counting the
1 million dead from Clinton's sanctions - want payback in kind.
Would'nt you?

cbx, It would be nice if you would leave out all these personal insults and instead provide us with the facts, don't you think?
Apart from it being against the rules, it would make a much better debate without.
