Being a dad of two boys 14 and 12 I am scared **** of a draft. My boys have been raised on good old fashioned hard nose reality. But I have to admit, they would not fare well being drafted....maybe a shift to Canada for good.

I fear war, I fear for our children, I fear for the children there now, where they should have never been in the first place. I am not anti war or anti Bush. Just plain ole anti stupidtism!

Mike, I totally agree with you..but with sons at ages 12 and 14 their social lives and school have been established . To uproot them now and pull it off successfully would take some clever maneuvering...

You'd have to find a community that they would be able to relate to ...i see some road trips in your future... don't tell them what you have in mind just yet.Take the road trip and let them be seduced by the possibilities of change...
then introduce the idea and see if they are up for adventure... and indeed as peaceful warriors , grow them up to use their brilliant minds to solve problems rather than murdering another human being. especially for someone elses fascist agenda

this is an important time in their lives. Puberty already sets up resistences, so use that to your advantage and turn the resistence towards crimes against humanity...and give them something NOBLE to use that energy on....

As for those who flee to avoid war,to me it's their God given right.Not everyone is gung ho to kill people.There are other ways to serve your country besides dying.

Garden, exactly what I was going to write
Two yrs for everyone both male & female.
Several other countries already doing it.

I really don't want to see a draft initiated, however, if there is one, I would do whatever I could to assist anyone who wanted to leave,to get across that big C border. I think, at least I would hope that a draft might be the best way to physically show our disgust and dissatisfaction over this war.
