At first I was all like WOOHOO, then was like...bummer!

JACKSON, Miss. – Officials say a mistake is to blame for the Confederate flag being raised over the Mississippi Supreme Court building on Friday.

Kym Wiggins, public information officer for the state Department of Finance and Administration, tells The Clarion-Ledger that the flag was put up accidentally when workers were replacing a worn Mississippi state flag.

Wiggins says workers had gone to a local vendor to get state flags and were given two boxes labeled "Mississippi State Flag."

She says that unknown to the workers the boxes actually contained Confederate flags. The flag was up for about two hours.

Wiggins says the vendor has been notified to make sure no future problems take place.

Political correctness needs to take a hike. It is a dangerous thing to be PC, nobody can truly speak their mind.

I'm not pc, but I gotta diverge with you on this one. I have black friends and I know this represents a shameful era in our history. For my friends sake, I am against it.

Very few people know that the civil war was not just about slavery...

Right. But slavery or rather no slavery supposedly was one of the outcomes of the civil war.

Supposedly is the key word. It was about taxation and control.

My black uncle and mulatto cousins understand that it represents southern culture and southern pride.

Racism is just a BS title thrown at it to make it one the most hated flags by the ignorant who do not know any better.

the flag is very simple and has nothing to do with racism, if it did it would have depictions of violent acts against non whites. What it does have is 3 colors, red which represents courage or fearlessness. The blue which by the way lays over the 13 white stars with the stars shining through the blue, represents the determination and justice for each person. Third and least common on the flag is white which represents purity, a color of peace.

The flag also contains an X, this is used to tell the Union "We do not wish to be part of the Union any longer so X (cross) us out"!

'Because by their declared principles and policy they have outlawed $3,000,000,000 of our property in the common territories of the Union; put it under the ban of the Republic in the States where it exists and out of the protection of Federal law everywhere; because they give sanctuary to thieves and incendiaries who assail it to the whole extent of their power, in spite of their most solemn obligations and covenants; because their avowed purpose is to subvert our society and subject us not only to the loss of our property but the destruction of ourselves, our wives, and our children, and the desolation of our homes, our altars, and our firesides. To avoid these evils we resume the powers which our fathers delegated to the Government of the United States, and henceforth will seek new safeguards for our liberty, equality, security, and tranquillity.

'Our position is thoroughly identified with the institution of slavery-- the greatest material interest of the world. Its labor supplies the product which constitutes by far the largest and most important portions of commerce of the earth. These products are peculiar to the climate verging on the tropical regions, and by an imperious law of nature, none but the black race can bear exposure to the tropical sun. These products have become necessities of the world, and a blow at slavery is a blow at commerce and civilization. That blow has been long aimed at the institution, and was at the point of reaching its consummation. There was no choice left us but submission to the mandates of abolition, or a dissolution of the Union, whose principles had been subverted to work out our ruin. '

South carolina

Those States have assume the right of deciding upon the propriety of our domestic institutions; and have denied the rights of property established in fifteen of the States and recognized by the Constitution; they have denounced as sinful the institution of slavery; they have permitted open establishment among them of societies, whose avowed object is to disturb the peace and to eloign the property of the citizens of other States. They have encouraged and assisted thousands of our slaves to leave their homes; and those who remain, have been incited by emissaries, books and pictures to servile insurrection
