I’m not OK, You’re not OK, and That’s OK

So many people post topics about .. I’m lonely, why me, no reason to get out of bed in the morning, no one emails me….. The good old feel sorry for me me me me posts…….
You all know the posts… It gives a lot of us the , “Oh god not this again “ feeling
There is nothing less appealing to either gender then the "I am desperate and needy post"….

There are ways to combat this feeling of hopelessness…
Volunteering, creativity, spirituality, classes of interest, groups of interest and many many more….
Focus on your life not on just your wounds. On what you love. Use your insights you were born with them..
Find your gifts share them with others. Find your hope, lose your outer shame, build new dreams and rediscover meaning and purpose in your life.
No one can fix you……… but you
You can rediscover the strength and grace that already lies within you.
When you have done this
You are then ready to embrace the dignity of risk

Karen, very well said. I am a very optimistic person, myself. On the other hand, allow me to say this. I think a little self pity and grieving is necessary for everyone now and then. It’s a matter of whether a person is wallowing in it and even then it a matter how much wallowing they are doing. Thus, all I ask is that to have a little compassion for those who may need a little bit of time to indulge in self pity and so forth.

We wouldn't be human if we didn't get lonely! But that doesn't mean you have to move into the pity me stage of development!flowerforyou laugh

Oh but if someone is truely in grief that means there has been an intense, profound I dunno deep sorrow do to a specific event and I am very compassionate about grief.. ON going self pity is unhealthy.. Grief is healthy.. I am not talking about grief in my post in anywayflowerforyou

i agree with you about self pity being unhealthy and alot of people spend way too much time doing it.

It depends on the person and the situation. Sometimes for some, it is necessary. It is truly a matter if they get "stuck" in that stage or not.

I have worked with a lot of people through their "tough" times. Everyone is different and reacts differently to loneliness. Sometimes, they simply need a sympathetic ear. If you are not capable of being compassionate enough to listen, then, at the very least, show enough compassion by not criticizing them.

Some of us are simply more fortunate since we are comfortable in our skins. There plenty of those who are not.
