I agree women should not carry guns.

If you don't want to get raped then take my advice,

Don't shower for about three days. You will smell so bad nobody will go near you.

Unless your rapist has a cold you should be safe

Willing, you made the accusation that I said I want women disarmed and defenseless. You need to be able to back that up. So, quote and link, please, so I can see the exact wording.

Cool.
Your refusal to answer is answer enough.

Wonder if a rapist can sue the woman if her rape whistle damages his hearing?

Especially PMSing broads. Piss 'em off and they could unload on ya'.

According to the libs, rapists are people to and need the leverage of knowing a college gal won't be packin' heat.

Willing, you had your chance at an adult discussion. You chose to make an accusation you couldn't back up. I gave you two chances to do so and you refused. So, no, you don't get answers to your questions.

How would you suggest women defend themselves against a rapist?

Each person should have the freedom to decide for themselves how best to protect themselves, after all they are the only person responsible for doing so, and thus should not need to consult others on how best to do so. That in no way limits that persons liability in whatever ways they choose to defend themselves.

Me? All violent attacks are considered equally, I do not advise anyone wanting to develop defensive strategies to necessarily develop a different strategy for every kind of attack.

The tools and the strategies are not mutually exclusive, but also do not perfectly overlap either.

That's just what we need. Gun owners thinking they're above the law.

what do you think will happen when they ban guns? who will have the guns then?

I agree with this.

And moe, who is talking about banning all guns?

it's a slow process, taken in steps... did you know our ally nations have already banned guns?

"There are many incidents in which people, armed and feeling threatened, mistakenly shoot an innocent person."

What a statement..

No evidence provided..

I am betting based on the information I am providing below that the number of innocent victims shot is not as high as rape victims..

There is an average of 207,754 victims (age 12 or older) of rape and sexual assault each year.

Here's the math. According to the U.S. Department of Justice's National Crime Victimization Survey --there is an average of 207,754 victims (age 12 or older) of rape and sexual assault each year.

http://www.rainn.org/get-information/statistics/frequency-of-sexual-assault

This is simply more left wing idiocy..

Get raped because it's better than accidentally shooting someone..

Good luck with that

So, you agree with using whatever means available for women to protect themselves? Even if it includes shooting them?

For the 10-20% of rapes that are committed by strangers, I do hope that the woman is able to use self defense (including a gun if she has one) to stop it. I never want someone to get raped.

I do have some questions for those who think guns will prevent all rapes, though. What about the 80-90% of rapes that are committed by someone the victim knows? Are guns going to protect them all?

What happens if it's at a party? Are all the drunk kids supposed to be carrying guns? Do you guys carry when you're drunk?

What about date rape? A woman is out with someone she trusts enough to go on a date with and gets raped. Are guns going to help in that situation, too?

What about those attacked by family members or friends?

I'm actually looking for serious answers to these questions.

i guess it depends on how bad the woman doesn't want to get raped... is it worth killing someone over or not?

i think my answer covered all your questions... i have heard about girls or mothers killing the father for rape, but some let it continue... it's a mindset, i believe... if the woman really doesn't want to get raped, then it would be worth killing/fighting back over...

the only thing serious about this debate is that the status quo delivers 207,000 rapes per year.

that is roughly 200,000 more occurrences than handgun murders per year.

it seems that a woman is far more likely to be raped than shot with a handgun.

so what are we really discussing here?

is this you defending the status quo versus a viable alternative that could possibly reduce the number of rapes that occur?

this is about reducing violent crime against women isn't it?

Earlier in the thread you were a bit upset that someone was arguing against a position you do not hold.

I am now curious who has said that, "guns will prevent all rapes"?

I believe the unstated sentiment (that I share and is put forth by the likes of the NRA) is that having a gun offers options one would not have for a lack of one, and those options can prevent all kinds of violent assaults of which rape is one.
