I often see or hear people complain about how a social and dating site is "BOGUS" or "don't work"
And while i feel for these folks who are apparently so unhappy
I also think that the sites usually provide all the niceties and match making as well as chat and email'
To try and make it posssible to meet others
There is a lot to be said for the way you present yourself as an individual as well
And social grace is NOT something a site can give you
Whether you think it is supposed to be some miracle fix for your social short comings or not
It is up to YOU to reach out to others and introduce yourself through participating in the forums
or just stepping up and saying hi to break the ice
You can't really expect the site to take you by the hand and "Hook you up" with someone...

Are unrealistic and looking for fantasy
So they will ALWAYS be disappointed in my opinion ...

And especially on the internet where so MANY lie,pretend,scam ...etc

I concur 100%, KiK... Mingle has everything we need to reach out to each other... to communicate... to have fun enjoying each others company... it doesn't get any easier than this to open up to people and let them know what we're about, what we're looking for, and what we're willing to do to get what we want. Yes, there are scammers and players that are very annoying to have to put up with everyday, but once you know their routine and can pick them out in a crowd it's easy to ignore them, just tune them out. Of course we all have expectations about the kind of person we want to invite into our personal lives, and it might take a while to meet the needle in the haystack, or to even realize we might already be staring them in the face and not knowing it yet, but if we make no effort to open up to others then there's nobody to blame but ourselves... imo...

I get what you're saying. Relationships require effort, so people can't expect to just suddenly be offered someone on a silver platter. Communication is key :)

You can do all those things simply by posting in the forums.

True. Im nothing but new in here. I joined mingle because im bored. I didnt even know that this site exist? Free!? I ask google about friends and lovers site. I view all the result but all of them had the same in common "free registration" the last site i check was this. Its awesome but skeptical when i saw the upgrade button. Haha. Before all i had to do was to matcH, search whose online and reply to the mails. When i joined the forum i post the question that enters my mind. I didnt even go to the new user area.. Perhaps some of the people here do expect to be hand-held and literally introduced...If that is the case, there are lots of 'escort services' that will do this and more...for a modest fee, of course. Most escort services are blue/grubby or no collar oriented so that leads to a very wide range of fees and services. I've never heard of complaints from those that I know used them...to each their own.

There are many free sites like mingle, date hook up, ok cupid, craigslist, that one can use to meet people. You can have account on all of them but they will do no good if you sit and do nothing. Although craigslist may be the exception.
