I would recomend using a regular disk. Although you can download the necessary files over the internet it often requires an image to be burned and at least one sizable dvd to store all the information on. Unless you want to get into the network installation and shifting the files from one disc to another it just much easier to purchase the installation disks as opposed to downloading the files yourself.

Once you have the disks for installation no matter how you got them

It is very simple to follow the onscreen instructions to walk you through it. It might ask you about partitioning your hard drive disks or something like that where you might not know what to do.. just lean towards what feels safer to do and it should install correctly actually pretty simple. Not sure about upgrading from 95 though... so youll need a clean install disk and not an upgrade. The clean install disk, which is usually what you get when you purchase a Windows install disc.

If its a win 95 system you cant go to anything higher then XP err maybe depends on the ram and cpu power. When 98se is safer, and not knowing the power of your system.

IT could be many things. It could be the cable connecting to the the monitor. In that case u are sol. It will cost u more then $150. When you take apart the monitor or have a friend that knows what he is doing,or a trusted tech. Have them show you what the problem is. That show or take apart show should take about 5 min.

Hook a monitor to the VGA port on the side and see if the video works. If not it is likely your video chip on the board is shot (Bad Motherboard). If you have clear video then it is most likely the screen. If it is the screen you can find the moderately priced on ebay.

There is no way to do that because of the hardware problems you will have... Truth is your better off buying off craiglist... or buy a new computer that will have windows 8 on it.. just be away though that some people one craigslist is not trustworthly. for that i would dare say buyer beware.

your best option is to try unbuntu 12.04LTS Linux this is a windows sub and will run better on your older computer..
