There is not much you can do when they
pretend not to understand plain English.

1. A pitty is not the type of dog for an inexperienced dog owner.

2. Get that dog under control before you find yourself in the newspaper because of yet another pit bull attack.

3. Teach her the basics, sit, come, down, stay.

4. Teach her to walk at "heel", not in front of you. Be firm, but gentle and consistent. Start with her sitting on you left side with the leash in your left hand over to your right. Take a step with the command "Amber heel". The dog will start to walk with you. Any lunging ahead or "game playing" , "Amber sit" pull up on the leash and make her sit, (see #3). Try it again. Try it again. Try it again.
Be firm. It's a dog not a baby. You are the pack leader not her. Once the dog starts walking with you if she pulls ahead turn around to your right, again giving the "amber heel" command, and walk back the other way.

5. Read up on some good dog training books.

6. If she's still playing "games" get professional help.

Yes hold the leash higher in your hand with no slack. When your dog behaves start walking again and give the leash slack. If your dog starts chewing leash stop again and repeat steps above. The dog will realize that the walk stops at misbehavior and begins with compliance. Good luck have fun and remember the dog is walking with you your not walking with her..
