If it were a perfect match you wouldn't have to change anything to make it work. It would just work on it's own with no help at all.

There's no such thing as perfection.
Everyone has their flaws as well as their good qualities.

It's being able to accept each other for the flaws as well as the good qualities, & perhaps changing some behavior or thinking that could become problematic, along with your attraction towards one another that all goes into a successful relationship.

No one should have to change who they are happy being just to be with someone else.
No one should have to "make" a relationship work.
A relationship should be able to function on it's own, along with open communication.

Remember this.
As long as your hearts remain strong, you will remain together.
The moment that you allow your light to fade, so will your attraction.

Lets say you meet your perfect match. What if anything have you learned from past relationships and what if anything would you change to help make this one last?

I might point out in answer to the question above, that if you met your perfect match, you would not have to "change" anything.

Since all of the men, relationships, and situations of my past were so very different, anything I may have learned about each of them specifically would not necessarily apply to another.

But overall, I have learned to adapt to the specific needs, desires, expectations, and quirks of a relationship and appreciate each one for it's own merit and complexity.

I've also learned that a relationship has to have room to grow and cannot do so when strangled by too much expectation. Besides, if one, the other, or both of you are constantly striving to meet a plethora of preconceived notions, it eats up too much time you could be having fun and sharing your love. flowerforyou

Yes...I said plethora. tongue2

I wouldn't change anything, iv always been a good hearted person. So in all they should be able to see that.

The perfect match is still like two galaxies colliding. There may be a lot of gravitational attraction but lots of systems with still go spinning off into the void.

RIGHT on. Real love is unconditional. They love you for who you are, just as you are. No change needed.

I think a lot of times we look at people not for who they are but rather what we think they should be if we can let that go and truely accept that person for who they are we would get along a lot easier..and I agree with the earlier post of not sweating the small stuff .life is precious n short .we get upset today but tomorrow's always another day .I've lived n seen a lot if bad don't regret tomorrow what you could of said today

Who you are inside should be your core but your partner should be able to compliment and keep that core strong

I am in agreement with this.

those of us who have been married before get to a place where we can finally understand the reason(s) our marriage did not work and if we are honest with ourselves will "own up" to our part.

some may want to choose a different path in terms of examining our own choices based on what we have learned about the past choices, which is kinda where I am

others may see specific mistakes they made and learn from those. not in an effort to achieve or find perfection, but just to become a better person, on the inside. In my estiamtion that's what we are dicussing here.
