I've been on this site for a long time and I am just wondering what would you do is someone viewed your page and sent you a message to text them, is this a scam and is there a way to find actually where they are from? Usually on the page it will say that they are in one city but when you ask them they say another. I'm thinking that they are trying to gain access to personal information.

You would with 99.9% accuracy be correct. There is always the off chance that one could be honest. But I would not hold my breath on that. You'll pass out and probably die before you find one that is honest. lol

I have enough experience with scammers to know what they do. I've had many conversations with them. Even developed a taste for it. Except it's torture and fun at the same time. Like when your talking to one that can't speak English at all and they say they are from an English speaking country. It hurts my head. hahaha

Actually I check out the number by anywho.com great site use the reverse look up... Then I normally report them for the number is never where they say they are...

I never call or text anyone that out of the blue sends me a number... I will tell them the e-mail here is just fine and free and I check it often...

Most are scammers that is why they want to get you off the site... When they do that there is no one for you to report them to...whoa

Not totally true. Just no one from here to report them to. If you're chatting on another site or program then you can report them to the those companies that run those sites or programs.

What if you copied and pasted the scam msgs from them to an email on here? Would that be enough to get them the boot?

I use whitepages.com
It will give you a general area even for cel phones.
Not sure about international numbers but they can easily
be looked up by country code..

A lot of women on these sites put false information about their locations on their profiles because they are concerned about stalkers. For similar reasons some of them post fake pictures and other bogus information on their profiles.

I can't really say much about long distance travel scammers. I don't even bother to reply to anyone outside of the UK unless I know them from the forums. It's pointless even if they are genuine.

There are some people that just don't like this site and would rather not email on here. I had a date recently with someone that asked for my email because of that. Didn't give it to her before meeting but she wasn't scamming and I've met other ones like that that tried to get me to text or Facebook or email offsite.

Do you know of a site that's totally free?

Isn't this one totally free,, or at least so much that it fits most needs? what can you hope for, beyond free messages, free chat, free profile viewing, free narrow search, and ok to share details, should you feel the person's not a scammer?
it sounds like some pay something.... what am I missing?

If they get you to go to yahoo they will not do anything...

90% of the time when they get you to go off this site they get rid of the account here and nothing we can do for anyone that goes off the site.

If it happens off this site there is not much we can do...as Journeyman said....

Report them here and let Admin look into it is the best way..
