I was picked on and bullied throughout junior high school but it stopped when I got to high school.

I was bullied a lot all through grade school and junior high but I fought back every time and by high school I had enough of a reputation that people left me alone even though I was always the smallest.

Ima older sis and I was not mean....flowerforyou

I was also picked on in school, mostly in junior high. Senior high was a lot better. Looking back on it the people ( a few guys) who picked on me ended up druggies, jerks and in jail...so I didn't miss out...lol

I think it admirable if you help support social victims, we all knew or were one at school.
Support is necessary because it's one of those minor, but occasionally damaging social issues that will just never go away, because it's a species thing, normal although uncivilized behaviour. We didn't start off civilized, it is a learned thing not a default state.

If however talking about bothering yourself with a memory of victimization or some such self entertainment just for the sake of conversation, well it's a bit vain and doesn't help anybody.

I've never been picked on at school (guess I'm lucky) but I found myself protecting the ones being picked on on a regular basis. Maybe that helped me from being picked on?

It would appear in most published cases and personal experience the primary ingredient to become a target is vulnerability. Bigger kids can pick on smaller kids because they can, all they need is any inspiration to it.

Ergo, befriending bullying victims is probably about the smartest play and best help. Smaller kids who are loners are primary victims, you take away the loner part by befriending them and immediately they're less vulnerable, at least to any new bullies coming along. You may have to help come up with some ideas to help them deal with existing bullies, but friendship/numbers is a terrific all round defence.

Yes. I saw this occur in school. Looking back, I should have stopped some of it but didn't.

No one picked on me for all the usual reasons.

I wasn't picked on at school because I had 6 older brothers.

I think for some talking about it can be a form of support. Bullying has gone unrecognized and unremediated for too long

Yeah, when I was 12 and I did the Boxing. I had 6 that tried to pick on me, but every time I fought 1, 2 or 3 of them, I could beat them in a fight. 6 at the same time? I'd get the s**t kicked out of me, but I went down fighting. My Grandad told me to change my tactics. So I followed them home at night and picked them off 1 by 1. I put 3 of them in the hospital. They showed me no mercy, so the favour was returned! I left the one I wanted most to last, as I wanted to get in his head, by doing all his footsoldiers around him. He ended up not coming into school for a month and then moved to his Grans, 70 miles away! I'm not glorifying what I did, as I went from the hunted, to the hunter. I'm glad I dealt with it, but I had an advantage that a lot of people who get bullied haven't? In that I did Boxing, from the age of 8 until I was 17. I don't like bullies, but in the end, I ended up bullying the people who bullied me.

my dad was 6 foot 4 and built like an athlete
my mom was a little spitfire known for not taking mess and having a lot of connections in activism
and I had four older brothers attending school before me known to not take mess,,

lol,, I felt very secure in youth and didn't have to personally deal with 'bullying' (unless you count a couple instances of attempted sexual assault which were quickly dealt with)

I think it sucks that some kids aren't raised up with more care and concern and consideration for their peers
