Topic: Thread Moderation gone mad? | |
---|---|
Tom, just told me, he contacted Mike & this is being undone.
When handled properly, things always work out. |

i usually vote don't delete but when i do vote to delete it's never based on whether i think the subject matter is questionable. someone had an idea a while back and it was just brought back up again in this post about the voting process not being private. i think that is a great idea because a lot of the malicious voters won't vote to delete if everyone knew what their vote was and why.

I'm confused about a comment I read about the moderation but don't remember it saying that if your posts were deleted too many times that your account would be deactivated, or did I read that wrong?

Tom, since the moderation system began, I have seen a number of threads asking why "Hi, I'm new here," or poems in the Poetry forum were deleted.
We recently had a problem with this when Michael G. posted a thread simply saying Hi and asking how everyone was doing (since he hadn't been on for awhile) and it was deleted. Mike reinstated it, but the question of "Why?" remains to this day, and, apparently, this is still going on. There has been speculation that some people didn't know how to use the "Delete" button (since addressed by a modification to the system), or that some people are using it as a means of expressing a personal dislike for a particular poster (which, if true, is pathetic) -- I don't know, it's happening too much for me to see it as "accidental" every time.... |

The only person that needs to know how members vote, are Mike & Van. Bet they can if they need too.
95% of the time it works, leave it alone. Besides, the complaint has been reversed. |

Decision was reversed with Michael's thread also.
Let the owners konw & they have final decision. |

It's totaly maddness! I've said this before, but the moderation thing goes both ways. Just take a look at how many threads have also gotten past this moderation thing, mainly because people like the person who posted the topic. And do you know how many repeat threads are out there? We'd be killing so many threads if we actually moderated appropriately. Yea, so basically the moderation thing has LOTS of room for improvement! ![]() |

In one way, people voting to have a particular thread deleted is a good thing. But then again, it seems that some might just be voting to delete because they don't like the poster for some reason, or they have something against them.
Maybe a section were people vote to name a thread that should be deleted should be introduced. In that way EVERYONE is aware of who what, and why they have voted for deletion. In the present system, one is made suspicious of everyone else. Let the person who has nominated for deletion give their reason. If someone nominates a particular thread then it should finally be up to Mike or Vans discretion as to whether it should be deleted or not. Alternatively do away with the idea altogether, or if people find a thread inappropriate, then let them say so themselves in the thread, then it can be deleted by Mike or Van. |

The thread in question was reinstated after I mailed Mike.
If the system remains as it is now and you feel you have had a thread falsely deleted, then maybe like I did, you should contact Mike for verifcation. Unless of course you realize yourself that you posted falsely. ![]() |

I never vote to delete. I mean....we are ALL adults......aren't we? Take it or leave it. It's that simple.
