When I had to have my old dog put down I think. That last day that my mum and I spent with him was one of the saddest of my life. We wanted to take him out to the garden for one last walk but he just couldn't anymore. I got that dog after my life had fallen apart and he was always there with me through those difficult times. He helped me to get out into the world again and he helped me to get my confidence back. He chose me to be his master and I took him everywhere with me. I didn't even go out of my house for a couple of months after I lost him.

The loss of a good dog is always a good reason to cry.

My sons sent me flowers from them and a few yellow roses in my late husband's memory for Valentine's. I feel lucky to have that love and see it reflected in their strong marriages. Reminds me of what is possible but a twinge of missing what was.

I almost thought you were talking a about human being! Dog couldn't have "chosen you to be his master",you did.Did 'he' had choice not to?

Thanks Paint.

I agree David; loss of a pet is very painful. It is such a pure love in most cases. Grief over it is very normal. Someone who can't cry over such a loss would scare me.

I honestly don't remember. I rarely cry.
You lost your emotions and feelings early in life?

You can have emotions and feelings and not have a reason to cry. I've been lucky in that I rarely have anything to cry about. Consider that before you judge anyone.

I have had animals chose me. My neighbor's cat would rather be around me than him any day. LOL of course he is a brute and I am actually gentle and care for the animal. Do wish he would quit bringing me dead birds.

Yesterday.
A guy where the matey works was out doing his job,
yard maintenance, slipped on the ice, hit his
head and died the next day.
Young guy.
So sad.
Here one minute, gone the next.
