when you are comfortable and want to. i talked to my ex for months online before i ever talked to him on the phone. and then it took probably another 3-4 months before we actually met. but we dated for 3 years and he still remains one of my closest friends.

there is no timeline. do what makes you comfortable.

I think it depends on how far away they live. I say if they live in your town, the same evening is okay since you'd probably meet them anyway. If they live more than 100 miles away, wait at least a month. If you can keep their interest without meeting for a whole month, then you've got a good chance of a spark.

Ahhh, Bluegirl, go with your gut feelings. Some guys I have met within days of first contact, some more than that, some not at all. The distance is always a factor.

Met a special person on another site that was a ways away from me (about a 3 hour drive). Ended up going to see him after a month or so. We had a blast, but there were no sparks for either of us. Still great friends and he is coming down to visit if we both get a full weekend off at the same time.

You just never know, but great love and great achievement involves great risk. Look at Captain and Eileena!

I flew to minnesota 9 times from Colorado after talking to someone for 11 months online and on the phone. The timing was perfect.

Almost a year so far, and I can wait forever...for those I talk to online...10 000 miles plus makes travel tricky...yet they feel as though they are across my table when we chat on skype.

493.7 years...give or take.

I think it all depends on how comfortable you feel in doing so. If it feels right go for it as long as its a safe meeting place where both parties are comfortable why not?
