When I sign into my account, I see an unread new mail notice, and in the list of activities appears the name of the member who sent me the message, yet, my Inbox is empty, could any one advise me about that peculiar hitch...

If there is no message, that specific person could have already deactivated. Check their profile and see if this is the case. It's happened to me many times.

It could be that the mail was sent by a scammer and deleted after the fact, Idealist. Please mail me (do not post here) the user names so that we can verify this.
