What political party that Keith Farnham belongs to is immaterial.

Actually, with the upcoming vote which may change the balance of power in Washinton, it could MATERIALLY affect the changing of the guard.

What's truly distressing is that there are a whole lot more mentally unhealthy, sexually indiscreet, even deviant people in state and federal govt that we think deserve our respect then we realize.

And for the most part we'll never find out about them unless they're publicly careless, or like in this instance there was a tip called in, because between their families, friends, and associates they all cover each other's backs to keep their jobs.

Human nature is what it is no matter how high up the chain it goes. The more money and power involved the easier it is to cover it up. Make it go away.

Actually not just saying, it is a very valid point you have made. But it is to be expected when you stop and analyze just what need the power trip. And just where to get the fix they desire, the government.

What is sad is the people that elect these people. The blindly follow where only a fool would go. They know nothing about the person and why they would be able to represent.

The founders know this and were very careful about this chief executive of the new government, the president. To forestall having a chief executive that would usurp the constitution, they made his election dependent on the electoral college, which has new in itself been usurped by the 12th Amendment. The president was never meant to be elected by the people directly.

And the same for the Senators, they were representatives of the states, chosen and serving at the pleasure of the state for a set term. The people had their representatives.

And people wonder why the government is so corrupt, well all the safeguards install by the founders have been removed and the people sit dumbly by and wonder what happened.

I suppose it makes us feel better to think we actually vote people into office.I suspect there's more to it than that...

A former Illinois State Representative was charged Monday with possessing child pornography.

Keith Farnham, who resigned from the state House in March after federal agents raided his office in connection with the charges, allegedly possessed two child pornography videos on a computer that was taken from the office.

Farnham, 66, is set to appear before a judge Wednesday morning, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Agents executed a search warrant on Farnham’s office computer in March after cybercrime officials discovered that an email address linked to the computer was being used to trade pornographic images of children.

If convicted, Farnham could face up to 10 years in prison ...

Last month, Illinois State Rep. Keith Farnham announced his immediate resignation from the position. Though he said at the time his decision was based on health concerns, his recent arrest cast doubt on the actual reason behind the Democrat's move.

The 66-year-old had state-owned computers seized by federal authorities just before his resignation; and along with evidence found on his personal computers, officials prepared multiple charges related to child pornography and allegations of sexual abuse.

An investigation reportedly began into Farnham's online activity when the Department of Homeland Security received a tip that a specific email account was being used to exchange child pornography.

Not only did officials determine he was involved in a conspiracy to trade hundreds of videos and images of child pornography; he admitted to raping a six-year-old girl in one online chat and expressed his twisted predilection during a number of other conversations.

12 is about as old as i [sic] can handle, he wrote in one exchange. i love them at 6 7 8 [sic].

He shared a graphic account of his sexual abuse of a young girl in a conversation with an individual authorities are calling User A.

Though that portion of the exchange is distressing enough, he allegedly also wrote in the same conversation that he wished he had access to all the videos and pics ever made.

During his time in the state legislature, his colleagues said they never expected he would have been involved in such behavior. In fact, Farnham was behind two bills that would make the punishment for possessing child pornography even harsher.

Those of us who know him I don't think would have suspected this,said State Sen. Mike Noland.

Others, including Democrat State Rep. Mary Flowers, are not yet willing to concede the fact that the authorities allegations are correct.

I don't want to cast him off as being guilty until he's been found guilty, she said.

Ed Schock, the former mayor of Farnham's hometown of Elgin, said he could scarcely comprehend the magnitude of the charges.

It's hard to really get my head around,he concluded.

Farnham is expected to make his first court appearance Wednesday.
