1 Timothy 5:23
23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities.

1 Peter 5:8
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Romans 13:13
13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.

Amos 9:14
14 And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.

God tells much more about drinking. It would appear that drinking in general is not a sin, when done in moderation and not to an extreme extent.

1 Corinthians 6:10
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

I assume/figure "drunkards" would be along the lines of like alcoholics and people of that such. Again, done in moderation is totally fine by God it seems. Only when done excessively is it a sin.

And yes I know some of those verses are intended for a specific person(s). But nevertheless with the broad mention of "drunkards" in the Corinthians verse it shows that as long as it's done with moderation and not letting it get out of control it would be acceptable.

In Deuteronomy 14:26, God tells the Israelites that they were permitted to consume alcoholic beverages.

So, no, it is not always a sin to drink an alcoholic beverage.

You've been given good scripture for your decision which I fully agree with. The one other thing to remember is not to drink where it might cause someone else to sin.... Basically don't drink in front of a recovering alcoholic. Which I'm sure you wouldn't do anyway. Now I kinda feel silly for saying it. lol
