Men Thought To Be Impersonating Cops Robbing People, Turned Out To Just Be Cops Robbing People

DETROIT (WJBK) - A Good Samaritan snapped photos of what appeared to be two men impersonating police officers involved in a pistol-whipping and robbery outside a Citgo gas station on Detroit's east side on July 21.

Once Fox 2 aired those photos, an even more disturbing picture developed.

"Several unidentified police officers were working this particular robbery case, recognized one of the suspects in the photographs as being a member of the Detroit Police Department," Chief James Craig said Monday.

This is quite common. Personally know two people that have been robbed by police. Cops are people too I suppose. Some good, some bad.

OMG.... you're not one of those are you? The foolish who believe what they are told instead of what the law and peoples rights actually are. It is NOT against the law to film or photograph police, even in the course of their duties! You can get "too close" as some might say, but they DO NOT own a public space or your right to occupy or film/photo in it! That has been guaranteed by the courts on numerous occasions!

And these cops were robbers! Enough so that a criminal warrant was sworn for their arrest.

And police don't collect fines! They act on warrants sworn out by the court for unpaid fines, arrest you, not steal your wallet after pistol whipping you!

A good Samaritan with a camera helped in catching an off-duty Detroit Police Officer and his former DPD accomplice, who were involved in a pistol-whipping and robbery outside a Citgo gas station. It was originally thought that the men conducting the robbery were impersonating police officers. Then, according to DPD Chief James Craig, "Several unidentified police officers were working this particular robbery case, recognized one of the suspects in the photographs as being a member of the Detroit Police Department."

Incidents like this are very rare. This isn't the days or Serpico in New York or Rampart in California.

Hell... I live in north Tulsa and the biggest gang we have here are THE MEN IN BLUE. Just not long ago one of Tulsa's finest got arrested himself for pulling people over, making them leave their wallets or purses in there car to steal their money. What got him popped was when he started targeting the spanish population here and one of the people he robbed turned out to be an undercover DEA agent. Once investigated and computers he own were investigated also, they found evidence he was also linked to a multistate cocaine ring. Every person at one point and time in their lives have done something that was totally illegal that could be punished by the state. Cops are the people that just didnt get caught. EXAMPLE: My last little trip to county I was arrested by person I went to high school with, booked in by another past school buddy... Both in which I smoked weed and done crystal meth with back in highscool and believe me... They were two cops that highly enforced THE RIGHT TO REMAIN SILENT on me. So... Cops people to... Yeah... People that didnt get caught.
