Topic: Bye Bye Cantor! | |
---|---|
He was just defeated in the primaries! The first House Majority Leader in history to lose an election! Thank God. Hopefully this will wake my Party up. The GOP needs to change with the times. They need to take action against the Obama regime and hold him accountable for ALL of the laws he has broken!
I just wish Boehner faced a serious primary challenger so he could lose. My party needs to get the message! |

The man who just beat Cantor, Dave Brat, has taken a different tack on surveillance issues. In a recent interview with the Richmond Times-Dispatch, he argued that "The NSA's indiscriminate collection of data on all Americans is a disturbing violation of our Fourth Amendment right to privacy." On his website, Brat says he favors "the end of bulk phone and email data collection by the NSA."' Brat takes Cantor's seat, it will shift the Republican Party a bit more toward the Amash position on surveillance issues. That's significant because Section 215 of the Patriot Act, which the government has cited to justify its phone records program, will come up for renewal next year. With more Republicans like Brat and Amash in Congress, that could be a tough sell. |

In early 2013, Cantor was on CNN supporting "beefed up" background checks. He also expressed support for stripping gun owners of their rights without due process. Capitol Hill sources say had the "Toomey-Manchin" gun control bill passed the Senate last April, Eric Cantor would almost certainly have thrown his weight behind that anti-gun "compromise." Cantor was prepared to support anti-gun legislation just like he did as Delegate in the Virginia General Assembly when he voted for the draconian one-gun-a-month gun rationing scheme and to ban self-defense shotguns back in 1993. Sure enough, just two weeks ago, Cantor did it again. Eric Cantor voted to spend $20 million more on Obama's anti-gun agenda. Yep! Goodbye Eric! And good riddance! |

LOTFI: Dear Tea Party, On Cantor's loss- You didn't build that You are proud to stand with Brat? But wait! You didn't! They all champion Brat, as if they had been cheering him all along, and yet not one of them gave him a dime. Club for Growth, Madison Project, Tea Party Network (not to be confused with Tea Party News Network), Tea Party Patriots, Tea Party Express - not a single dime. In natural political fashion, never let a tragedy - or victory go to waste. Now, they will all continue to send out newsletters to their massive email lists claiming "See what we did in Virginia! We can take the country back! Oh, P.S. please donate $10." In fact, they've already started sending them touting Brat's victory as a reason to donate more to their respective groups. Why? Again, you all did nothing. In fact, all of these groups have been collecting millions in donations, and they have not put a single dime into many winnable races. http://benswann.com/lotfi-dear-tea-party-on-cantors-loss-you-didnt-build-that/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=nl Just another political party with the illusion of caring..... |
