Not mine just a fwd..

My Kind of Grandma

There were protesters on the train platform handing out pamphlets on the evils of America. I politely declined to take one.

An elderly woman was behind me getting off the escalator and a young (20'ish) female protester offered grandma a pamphlet, which she politely declined.

The young protester put her hand on the grandma's shoulder as a Gesture of friendship, and in a very soft voice said, 'Lady, don't you care about the children of Iraq ?'

The old woman looked up at her and said, "Honey, my father died in Germany during World War II, I lost my husband in the Korean War, and a son in Vietnam. All three died so you could have the right to stand here, and bad mouth our country. If you touch me again I'll stick this umbrella up your ass and open it."

~God Bless Grandma, and God Bless America ~

If ya wannna pull on heart strings mention Moms and kids.

Unfortunately, war is fought on home ground and there are casualties. Even if many believed a war to stop geneocide may be worthy, Moms and kids will be among the casualties.

Even when governments are tyrannical dictators and the masses of the oppressed live with under these rules, there are such casualties. Hitler, Stalin, Hussein...at which point do we determine that intervention is an evil we must support, one in which we can accept the losses?

As a people we can not, or have not been conviced that the terror wrought upon us was in fact that of a nation. Therefore, we can not justify in our minds, in our hearts that this 'war' effort is worthy enough to support the losses.

Yet there is another factor that this terrorism has brought to light and should be considered for the future. If terrorism is allowed to exist to work and function within the protected boundaries of any nation - is the nation at fault, does it hide it's true feeling behind the acts of the terror? How many attacks, how much loss do we suffer on our own soil, before THAT loss is unnacceptible?

Since we can't determine, for sure, why we are even fighting this war it will never be an acceptible action in the hearts and minds of the majority.

We can only fault the administration for thier lack of providing an adequit foundation for support of what we do.

WE have the ability to change this because we are a free nation, and we will - so keep on keepin' on ya'all, and remember when we make that change it is not a win, it is a return to a better state, and a celebration would only defile the memory of all the Moms and kids on the list of casualties.

Making it right is the best we can do.
