If you have access to photo editing software cropping out some of the background might help. Because mingle downsizes the image if it isn't just a close up of just you it can be challenging for visitors to make out all of your beautiful features.

Here are the size parameters:
"When it comes to uploading images to a Mingle2 account, the actual file
size is almost unlimited. The number of pixels in the image, however,
is limited to 10 million. In other words, the product of width*length
must not exceed 10000000.

Pictures should be in .gif, .jpg, or .bmp format."

I tried uploading some art work i had done previously. I took the artwork into Photoshop and cleaned it up a bit. My camera saved it as a 14mp picture which i then saved and resized the picture in Photoshop to save on the final image size. My art work went from 4000x2000, or some such nonsense, to 1000 by 750, it was quite sharp looking. However, when i went to upload it onto my profile, it turned out so horrible you couldn't tell what it was. Ironically, uploading at higher resolutions seems to yield less then desirable pictures also, but at least im still recognizable.
