Some corporations are simply not logical. You should ask to speak with a manager, someone who makes the decisions about employees. Usually this is a Human Resources manager.
Explain to them your situation. Be patient, and concise. Explain that you want to work whatever hours you want to/can. They will tell you yes or no. If it is no, you may want to turn in your notice. They may tell you that you are no longer an asset to the company and fire you. At least you will have dealt with the issue!
That's just my recommendation, you can look for others.
Best wishes and good luck!!

How badly do you need this Winn Dixie job? I'm guessing you already talked to Winn Dixie about this and they have basically put their foot down about their flexibility? If the hospital and pharmacy thing is your true desire, then start planning your exit from Winn Dixie. There are tons of other jobs and financial assistance available for school if you need it.

Good luck! flowerforyou

I'm sorry, I'm lost. What exactly is the problem? You have a job you like with schooling in that field for a better job. Winn-Dixie, The Beef People, get a lovely, polite, two week notice from you and you find another part-time if that is what the problem is and keep your I'm happy in pharmacy YEY!!!! Check the jobs at the hospital, sometimes you can do a couple of part-time jobs in different departments.

If they fire you, they have to give you your pay check within 48 hours and you get unemployment checks. If you quit, you get nothing. You might want to be a bit passive aggressive with them and see what happens???

You'll be making friends with school and the hospital too. How out of the loop do you feel with the Winn-Dixie crowd now.
Besides, the real friends, you'll keep with you and they you, just a part of life and the path.

If you loose friends over a job....then they are not your life long friends anyway! The will be easy to replace!

Hi SexySari !

Why would you want to work for an employer, who has no "Common Sense" ? Plus, it's obvious they don't give a dime about your future. So what kind of a future do you have there ? That also explains why Winn-Dixie, is closing down stores like crazy, and under "Bankruptcy" !!! Sooner or later, everyone employed by Winn-Dixie is going to be out of employment...., just something to think about.

Getting "Fire" does not look good on "Resumes", leave.....wait, "RUN-RUN-RUN" !!! I would not even give them an "Exit Interview", I would just give notice and resign. I'm sure you can find employment in the same industry, if need be.

Good Luck To You & Your Mother !........Benz !!!

Which has the most future, I'd go with that.
Part time jobs are always out there.
Pharmacy tech pays damn good, least ways around here.

The best thing about Winn-Dixie is that they aren't in my area any more. I always hated that storegrumble .

Sexysari004flowerforyou ,it's great to meet you. A bit of advice from an "old dude" if I may:

STAY FULL-TIME AT THAT HOSPITAL!

STAY IN PHARMACY SCHOOL!

AND TELL WINN-DIXIE WHAT THEY CAN DO WITH THAT CRAPPY STORE!

Well, they are right in terms of work. You have to obey their rules. But on the same token, they're being unfair, very anti family. I think you should quit your job, and get another one with another, but entirely different kind of business or store.
Family emergencies are inevitable. They have to be respected. But first, ask them what they would be willing to do, to keep you.
