I agree,about the economy but is it ever truly safe to trust it, but it is my main worry. The drive is killing me and during the summer I take on another job and after the long hours the ride home is pure hell, I have found myself falling asleep at times and not to mention the extra money for gas. This rationalization for acquiring a house closer to the beach is coming along fine hahaha Life is precious, it goes fast, it sounds like you have earned the right to make these choices :-) Specially if you can get a good deal :-) Congratulations.....Jack!  Living closer to work and getting houses when it is the buyers market is the way to go. And getting to choose to live where you like is so so ideal. I got a promotion at work, just bought a new truck, and I am looking to buy a house closer to the ocean. Do you worry the bottom will fall out when things are going good or do you just go with it? life's always a "roller coaster" type ride, just depends on how far up and down it goes... |

The way I see things is if it is something you really want and it is in the budget then do it. We have no guarantee of tomorrow...

This reminded me of when my son was in therapy...things were going really good for me and my son was worried...his therapist asked him his thoughts and my son explained that when things are going good for my mom it means things are going to get real bad...his therapist told him that's not probable...and maybe by thinking it we are causing things to go bad...lol...then things got bad...this went on for just over a year...at the end of his therapy his therapist looked at me and said what a joy it was working with my son and I ...then he added...normally I would wish you the best...instead I hope you both stay strong...lol...

Your right there are no guarantee's I just lost a friend who was my age and it makes you aware of how fragile life is. I think its just that I am not used to things going so smoothly.After years of working two jobs and saving now its time to invest and I am a little nervous. |

I do. I don't mean to be like that. It's just suspicion. I'm always waiting for something to go wrong. If something happens to me, something amazing, I start thinking "We'll see whether that's really true".

If you got saved money, Jack, you ain't got a thing to worry about. Bottom falls out, you got something to carry you through.
If you don't have money saved, and the new expenses prevent you from saving and/or saving more, you might want to reconsider the purchases. Easier to save up for something you want than it is to save something you're losing.  And less stressful. Hope it all works out for you. |

 I used to, several years ago. Now I don't (fear when everything goes 'right'), primarily because of the reason that seldom does everything go 'right' for me & I do not wanna miss out on those lovely moments; I consider it a blessing to 'savor' those 'rare' moments of 'peace' 'serenity' & 'ecstasy'!
