I have a huge interest in astronomy.

I couple that with my interest in photography to capture celestial events.

As you see on my profile, I have captured the solar eclipse from October 23, 2014.

Would anyone else care to share their experiences?

Astronomy is fascinating. I have a few books but I never got around to exploring it further. I need a push by someone who is a pro.

Cool solar eclipse in interesting phenomenon ... It has been depicted in many ways in different religions of the world ..but one thing for sure is common that it carries harmful rays for life on earth so it must be avoided as far as possible to venture into .. ther science and religion matches

Solar and lunar eclipses are interesting.
I watched the full moon's lunar eclipse on 15-6-2011, was stunning!
Usually there's major shifts in energy as well during such events, and me being a lightworker, pagan etc, I take an interest in those. In that sense the Venus transit in June 2011 was stunning!

Can't take pictures like this anymore, haven't got an SLR camera anymore

There's a total solar eclipse due on the 20th March 2015 that should be visible in northern Europe

I only wish I could share my photos directly. I have captured a lot including a comet in 1997.

These forums only accept a URL.

Thanks for the heads on the Solar Eclipse for Europe Justfun_1.

We have a Lunar Eclipse for western North America, the Pacific, east Asia, Australia and New Zealand on April 4, 2015.

See the wiki page for the times is your neighborhood.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/April_2015_lunar_eclipse

Total eclipse will only be 4 minutes and 43 seconds which is a very short period.

bye now...

@dadcat

Go to PhotoBucket.com and get a free account (8 free Gigs,'if you use their phone app). Upload to your new account and each picture will have links that you can embed. Apps are in their respective stores, and are free.

It's very easy to do.

I had a Telescope when I was a kid. I was able to see Venus and Mars but it was very faint.

I had the opportunity to see Halley's comet back in 1986 at the Griffith Observatory. It was just a blurr but I will always carry that image. My child will have a chance to see it but I won't again.

Thanks to everyone sharing your thoughts.

bye now...

So I did follow the stories about this. I know the places for total eclipse were just near the Artic circle which made it difficult for many.

Did any of our Northern Europeans members here see this?

I would like to hear any first hand stories.

p.s. I'm looking forward to the Lunar Eclipse on April 2, 2015.

Triple play..

The eclipse
The supermoon
The equinox

Farmers almanac lists all the dates for the eclipses for the next two years.

We didn't have a total eclipse yesterday, some 84%. But hardly anyone has seen it as it was overcast. Lot of disappointed people, haha. Many had gone out to see it, bought eclipse glasses. Oh well, next time, 6 years from now.
I watched the full eclipse online, broadcast from the Faroe islands. THey did get to see a total eclipse, you didn't have to go to the north-pole, lol

Sorry I don't see anyone who actually viewed it personally.

Here's my photo of the solar eclipse over North America in October 2014.
