You've got to remember...

Jon Stewart's shtick is all about facieses sarcasm.

The humour is all about irony!

agreed, there is always a logical basis for his humor... it makes us(some, anyway) think about the stupidity as a whole

I like him because he is not one sided. I can take him a bit more seriously because he is 'fair and balanced'

I used to like jon stewart but after watching him for a while I wondered to myself, if he cares so much why is he just trying to make a big joke about everything instead of trying to actually change it. I agree he speaks his mind for the most part, but I feel like hes just another puppet trying to make laughter out of something far more serious. like hes just trying to normalize government wrongdoing conditioning us to think its ok that our gov. repeatedly breaks the laws. same with Colbert. these guys obviously have a lot of fans and influence, if they really cared why would they only want to make a big joke of it instead of rallying people together to make changes. if I was ever famous enough to get on tv with a show about politics, I wouldn't constantly make it about being funny, I would use that influence to tell people that they really need to wake up and that its not a laughing matter. theres nothing funny about what our gov. is doing. but I guess I shouldn't be so quick as to blame him, as im sure hes probably told what he can and cant say on his show being that government has a stranglehold on media.

true, like I said its probably not his fault completely. im sure hes told what he can and cant say, I just hate how its always meant to be a joke, I guess what I should have said is I don't necessarily hate stewart himself, just shows that try to make humor of government wrongdoing.

I get what your saying, maybe its just me but i'd rather watch a show that takes a serious stance on corruption as opposed to a show that tries to make it all about laughs... im sure he has to make it funny or the average dumb American wouldn't care to watch it. like I said its not him I necessarily hate just shows that make it all about laughs.

Maybe the most sobering look is at the announced moment of Zen...

And it's always at the end of the broadcast.

You ever watch the Lehrer Report or PBS Newshour or Meet the Press? I haven't watched in ages but I remember some interesting and intelligent discussions about world events.
