Yeah, there is very thin line of distinction between ego & self esteem.

These two terms are largely subjective to the culture & hence perception too....but don't you think that even saying I'm egoless, Selfless & expecting others to count that on you & further expecting them to follow for the same to you makes you egoistic??

I agree its a fine line..one can see oneself with a huge ego: I am better then all you, I am beautiful, I can do everything better, I am the smartest bigsmile

One with great self esteem : I am the best person I can be , I feel like I look great today, I do my best at everything, I can be very smart at times:smile:

I dont think claiming to be egoless ,selfless ect. makes you egotistic simply because if you are "egoless" you wouldn't presume someone is following you to be the same, you would just feel that that person is similar to you.(Egoless)

True...but if we further give it a thought then you will realize that the behaviour of egoless person will be so humble, down to earth & so comprehensive that he wouldn't ever need to tell someone ( to claim ) that he is egoless / self less....

That's what make me think that if there is the need to say / to claim that I'm egoless / selfless, then one should really check...why the need arise to say that?

As many people here too are of the view that Ego is nothing but just "I"........ then saying I'm egoless, Selfless is describing one's Ego...right?

In context, it appears you are using the word "ego" incorrectly. Everyone has an ego that is manifest in infinite variety. Think of "ego" as soup, as in the "soup" which fills everyone's head. Some is bland and some is spicy. Some is salty and some stinks of rancidity.

Ego is a quality that runs from self-centered to altruistic.

If you have no ego you are simply unconscious. People who have a "big ego" tend to be the ones on the self centered end of the scale.

Well,if you go through all the postings in this thread you will come across some totally different opinions about ego & self esteem like just for sake of example........

1.Ego is a false impression one has about themself.
Self esteem is knowing ourself well enough to honestly know our good attributes, and our faults.

2. ego is only how we see ourself, we all have a self perception

it may be humble or overinflated , but its there.

To whom will you say wrong?

one's views about Ego & self esteem will never match 100% with other persons views....It's mainly just level difference of same ladder..How ever the person is egoistic seldom will he agree that he is!!!

It won't be proper to ignore self esteem as a positive character trait by covering the whole things under the one heading- Ego.

I don't know the difference between an over-the-top ego, and a charmer. What I DO know about those two types, is that they'll never win me over. There's nothing worse than a man who thinks he can have any woman he wants, because it means he'll use me, before he finds the right one for him. I give up on those types. Either you want me or you don't, but don't give me mixed signals, as I'll just drop you like a lump of coal.

Hmmm....actually over-the-top ego holders are plainly foolish.
Charmers are pretenders and they considers all others foolish.
It's wise to ignore such stupid.

the ego is simply an awareness of self, different than egotistical, in my thought anyway. We can't have self esteem without self awareness.

Selflessness, on the other hand, can be postive or negative energy depending on the reasons. Selflessness as a form of seeking admiration drains energy of all involved.

your EGO is YOU.
It is up to you what you fill it up with!
The responsibility is yours!

 I believe Conrad...mainly because he looks like a psychiatrist.
