Actually ... your Indians are only called Indians cos silly Columbus s(rewed up ... kind of silly if you think about it... Now we have Indians and Indians, both originally meant to refer to the same people and yet, major difference. Really kinda weird.
Blame the Spanish I say! And the Italians as well, as Columbus was after all Italian.
If only Amerigo had gotten there first, then the Indians may be known as Vespuccis.
