michael Brown
(CHICAGO) – A new art exhibit about the Michael Brown police shooting in Ferguson is on display in Chicago.

The piece features a life-size portrayal of Michael Brown after he was killed last year in Ferguson.

It also includes a black statue of liberty, and a noose dangling from a neon sign.

The exhibit also features a plaque with the words “I Can’t Breath”; referencing the Eric Garner police involved death in New York.

A Brown family member praises the exhibit.

The artist is a white woman from New Orleans.

She says it represents white privilege in America and how it negatively affects the black community.

The exhibit runs through August 10th.

well, artistic expression is meant to stir conversation/controversy

she has succeeded

until the next artist spotlights another controversial issue

probably gay marriage (but there probably have already been those artistic displays around the country)

Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome & of course Sodom & Gomorrah (which they now let women in to see if).

But, I agree... I'm sure there will be other disturbing & morbid (so called art), in the future.

Like the world should know the truth... I wish.

But, the truth won't start a race war, decrease the population to control it, open our borders, buy votes, or convince people to give up their freedom & guns for a police state.... with the illusion that it is for their own good & safety.

But maybe the alleged asteroid or extraterrestrials, or The Pope, arriving in September, when we are completely broke... will convince people.....
Father knows best.

Now, that you mention it, that "white privilege" comment in the article really rankled me, too. After reverse discrimination and all kinds of other indignities endured by whites nowadays, who by the way are a diminishing race by population growth compared to the rest of the world, an endangered species, that comment had no place anywhere. Bogus, man!

Disgusting, the artist wants publicity and nothing else.

She and whoever granted permission should be shot.

We had one crank here a few years back.
This artist painted a picture of a woman called Mirah Hindley in children's hand prints.

Mirah Hindley was a serial child killer. The moores murderers.

Lunatics using art to justify fame.

she may be referring to 'implicit bias' where the majority sets the norm and relates to others within their 'group' with more apathy/empathy/comradery than they do those in the minority

the bias that may make a police man, see the majority group with more empathy, see the white suspect as less of a 'threat',,,,than the black one,,,

what group is guilty of 'reverse discrimination' of another group?

black people collectively dont have the wealth or power to impact the majority,,,

what group is forcing indignities upon whites

,,,In america?

I agree, whites are diminishing and perhaps once they become a true MINORITY , they may face a privilege that belongs to a different majority,,

but for now,, not so much

Ms, I've read enough of your posts to know that you are of high intelligence.

So surely you can see that this is nothing but an artist wanting to make a name for themselves regardless of the offense it may cause.

Also surely you can see that it does nothing for race relations, except cause more separation.

A recently-opened exhibit at a Chicago art gallery on race and white privilege features a depiction of Michael Brown‘s body after he was shot in Ferguson.

The exhibit, “Confronting Truths: Wake Up!” was created by artist Ti-Rock Moore. She explains that the goal of here work is to “honestly and frankly… explore white privilege through my acute awareness of the unearned advantage my white skin holds.”

The exhibit includes pieces of the Confederate flag overlaying parts of the American flag (on which the names of the nine Charleston shooting victims are written), a noose, and a cross with the words “White Privilege” on it.

But there is also this depiction of Michael Brown’s body on the ground, surrounded by police tape after he was fatally shot

It is perverted. I think it's a further disgrace to the dead young man. What little he had. I'm surprised the Brown family allows it.
