Liberals! Beating a dead horse! Most who actually care about feeding their children would welcome the program participation that assists them in finding the work needed to qualify for the programs rather than biotch about having to get off their a$$e$ and actually participate in them to benefit from them. There are "hardship" clauses in most of these programs for disabilities, parents of small children needing daycare, transportation, job training, tools and clothing, and any number of other "hand up" programs that are what the program is actually funded and created for if it is dispersed and managed properly. I never worried about what percentage of black or white abused the program. What I complain about is bad management of the taxpayer money funding it, lax policies and enforcement, and what created the need in the first place! Under liberal socialist programs and leadership (socialism/fascism/corporatism) technology and anything beneficial to the people will be withheld from the people until the corporations can figure out how to regulate, tax, and profit from it. That is why society always declines under liberal leadership! Dragging the rest of the population down to a level rather than innovating and inspiring people to perform thru competition and setting higher standards for themselves is what fascism feeds on. Govt will always, and ONLY, create need! That is why our fore-fathers limited their power over the people. Govt and corporations are like rain! While a little is needed, too much can make a mess of everything! They were never meant to "rule" the people, only provide for and serve them! CORPORATISM : the organization of a society into industrial and professional corporations serving as organs of political representation and exercising control over persons and activities within their jurisdiction fascism : a way of organizing a society in which a government ruled by a dictator controls the lives of the people and in which people are not allowed to disagree with the government : very harsh control or authority socialism : a way of organizing a society in which major industries are owned and controlled by the government rather than by individual people and companies Under any of these show me where the people are supposed to gain anything.... I cannot deny that there are instances of corporatism in our current government. Big tobacco, banking, the oil, power companies, the entire medical and entire insurance industry are the worst. We don't have fascism and we don't have socialism and certainly not communism. I disagree with several individuals and several policies our government has suggested and created as do you. That rules out fascism. Your definition of socialism doesn't describe our entire country and all of its major industries. Yes government makes some standards for safety reasons like osha ntsb, I don't see these as bad things. Now for what this thread is about, the first case didn't specify race at all. It just talked about what republicans have done in the state of Maine. I don't live in Maine so I can't speak for demographics there and I won't. However in NC where I live I know for a fact that people who do work and get foodstamps, their benefits are significantly reduced. I also know that despite the Federal government protecting Veteran's Benefits from taxation and the state taxes not allowed to consider those Benefits as taxable income that the SNAP program DOES consider those Benefits as income. So disabled veterans do not get as much assistance as the 'lazy recipient'. My state also taxes military retirement. They also tax all real property forever. It doesn't matter if you make your house/land/car payments until they are payed off, as long as its in the state it belongs to the state. If you move in for one week of the year you pay taxes for that year. If you move out after one week of a new year you owe taxes for the whole year and if you don't pay your vehicle tax they seize your car. Had I known this before I moved back from Texas I would have stayed in Texas. At least there you can own real property. |
