No comparison.

Rock is music.

Rap is not.

Rap is crap. End of discussion.

ROCK all the way, right now rap is the way metal was in the 80s commercialized junk
Right now some of the greatest rock bands ever are in full swing: my chemical romance, system of a down, arcade fire, mindless self indulgence, leftover crack, muse, the used, the white stripes, modest mouse,
the list goes on and on and sadly lots of people continue to listen to commercial junk

true rapunzel but we must remember that it is only crap now, bands from the late 1980s in the musical dark ages btween nirvana and the end of punk when junk like def leapord ruled the radio stations
bands like 2livecrew, public enemy, jurrassic five and such were all great rap bands

Lizard King...really?

I always considered those bands Metal...
But I am not in "the current scene" by any means...

I'm an die hard Bob Dylan fan, too...
I've heard it said that he was the original rapper..

Dylan is a brilliant genious
and a contemporary prophet smokin
as far as I am concerned drinker
& many others feel the same way...smokin

I feel that I have been spoiled with some of the very best
of the best in musical awarenesses and exposures...drinker

I just cannot stand that blatantly loud,
totally rude & disrespectful garbage ..
distorted trash they try to pawn off as music...
that lowlife mentality...of pimps and hoes...sick

rapunzel i enjoy the offensiveness of rap i simply dont identify with it, as it written by and for angry young african americans, as an angry young white kid i enjoy the offensiveness and every time i see some talk show like opera having a discussion about the effect of rap music on youth i get mad bcause of the attention its getting, im like like "um hey guys im listening to violent offensive disturbed music t please get mad at it!" I wish my punk rock was given that kind of loathing it would make it so much better

also dylan did contribute a fair amount to rap but the godfather of rap as a movement is grandmaster flash and the furious five

Oh well lizardking...drinker

we are definitely in two different worlds...But, I appreciate you and your honesty and boldness to stick up for what you like and for what you believe to be true...
Just please remember with your very impressionable youth...
that life is forever change...
and oftentimes....
that which we think is right and true today
might very well not be the way we think & feel tomorrow...

I have learned that one many times over & still am a student...

not all rap is negative
for example christian rap

I myself like rap when it first came out, but I don't like the rap that is derogatory and shows women as sex objects and is demeaning to them

I love all music as long as it's good music:smile:

funk, R&B, jazz, soul, country, classical, etc...
look for music that speaks to your soul
