Humm mine is #3 Heights .....but yet I still went parasailing a few years ago. And I will still get on top of the house to put up Christmas lights..Even though my neighbors most likely see it as comical here I'm laying on my stomach looking over the edge to place them.. Scares me to death to get any closer to the edge..

Sometimes we have to do what we have to in order to get over our fears..

I will not stand near the edge of a mountainnoway I have to be at least 10 ft back.. Just the thought of slipping makes me keep my distance..scared

We're quite similar on this
Maybe we do fear it, but only to a small degree
I've known of people that will cry even with a slight height
My son was telling me today, "there is a difference with fear & phobia"
Guess he's quite right there

Yea he is wise beyond his years..

Actually it took me several years before I could climb a ladder, or even get within any distance to the edge of a cliff... surprised

I still keep my distance as far as being on a mountain ect.. And normally have my hand on something I can hold onto...

Even climbing the ladder to get on the roof I have a knot in the the pit of my stomach.. it is such a relief to get to the ground..

I fear widths!

widths ?

in what sense?

care to explain Sir?

Sorry.......really lame, bad, and perhaps insensitive joke about Acrophobia.

I got the joke right away, but that's probably because I was raised by a very pun-oriented English Major father.

Minor note: actual fear of "widths," as opposed to heights, is on the list of top ten already, amusingly enough: agoraphobia.

Although there's a lot of things that creep me out, or give me pause, I'm not sure if any qualify as full on phobias. Just my opinion, but I think that to qualify as a true phobia, the fear has to be irrational, and has to drive the sufferer into actions to avoid it which are irrational as well.

So to me, the fact that I wont go right to the edge of an unfamiliar cliff isn't a phobia. It's a knowledge-based recognition that a puff of wind could result in my death, or that the cliff might not be as solid as I require. I have to deal with lots of unfamiliar, and potentially dangerous situations almost every day (I travel around fixing machines, and it's amazing how many customers assume service reps are paid to be daredevils), and I deal with each one cautiously. I don't panic, so I don't think that qualifies as a phobia.

I wont tolerate bugs of any kind in my house, but I don't panic when I find them. Sure, I will jump in fright if I discover one when I least expect it (such as turning a page in a book I've been reading for an hour, and finding a spider sleeping between the pages), but I don't loose my mind.

I don't get the trypophobia thing, so I guess I don't have that either. Pictures of people with horrible wounds are gross, but I don't feel any fear looking at them.
