French President Francois Hollande announced Thursday the mobilization of 40,000 reservists, up from 28,000, to boost the country's security.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The decision may be related to a series of coordinated attacks in the French capital on November 13, killing 130 people and injuring over 350 others.

"I have asked [Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian] that the number of reservists be increased to 40,000, against the current 28,000," Hollande said, as quoted by the Elysee Palace on Twitter.

The United States will keep increasing its troops in Europe because European leaders have been asking for a bigger US presence on the continent “every day,” US European Command’s General Philip Breedlove said, according to Stars and Stripes, the official newspaper of the US Armed Forces.

When/if, the French ever decide to fight, instead of surrender,
they can be ruthless.

Yes. Historically, we Americans should always keep in mind, that the only reason why we aren't still a part of the British Empire, is that France sent both land and sea forces to help us win independence. Granted, that was long ago, but still, respect is still deserved.

Sure. it wasn't because they loved us, and supported Democracy, or anything like that. The Anglo-French rivalry was long established, and had been going on quite a while. In fact, there is a sort of movement among some American Historians to recognize the war between France and Britain for which the American revolt was a small side theater, should really be recognized as the true First World War.
