So a 38 year old acquaintance from my dance school, passed away this weekend from what people suspect was a heart attack.sad2 I had only interacted with her on maybe 3 occasions before, but what I remember most about her was her nurturing and soothing energy. It was palpable and inviting . Despite my barely having known her, I will always have that indelible memory of her in my head. So it got me to thinking...

What would you like to be remembered for?

I think it's better to be forgotten ...who cares, when you're dead you're dead. I'd prefer my loved ones move on without the sadness of my death in their memory or my life so they won't have to cope with missing me. It's a good question but I wish people could disconnect after a death, because some people never get over that experience. Not trying to sound like a dick, I just truly believe this.

After a death, you should do your mourning... But after the funeral or memorial, move on..
It is part of life and no-one is getting out alive...

So true Rusty kitty.
And yet , when I think about that , young woman, I dont feel sadness. All I think about is that blanket - like energy she gave to me and it still remains with me every time her image surfaces in my mind. It makes me think that I wanna leave someone with that energy even after I am gone. Kinda pay it forward maybe? It reminds me of that saying:
"People won't remember you for what you say
People wont remember you for what you do
People will only remember you for how you made them FEEL."

You know what I love about an open mind? She often doesn"t leave home without her love child (Also known as) "Tolerance". Who doesnt want more of that in the world?

I wouldn't mind being remembered as the Melmacian who dated peggy122. bigsmile

(Hey, a Melmacian can dream, can't he?)

I'd like to be remembered as someone who tried to do what was right not what was popular, but in reality I'll probable only be remembered as that Ahole by the people I stopped from doing sheisty things. If that's the way I'll be remember then I'm going to have to side with BHawkins in the thought that I'd rather just be forgotten.

Wow...Today, my lesson is that some people prefer to be forgotten . Very naive of me but I didn't know that before! laugh

Well if you want to be remembered for the quality you mentioned above , then it sounds like you might have the makings of a good leader.

Ps: And for what it's worth dnhblue, I will remember you as the headless guy with acerbic wisdom and kick-azz dry wit.

Well Confucius would most likely agree with you about the leader thing because I don't like the position but I keep ending up in it. As for the headless thing, that's because it only shows the middle half of my profile pic, there's a quarter missing off the top and bottom.

No need to explain about the pic. I understand your strategy. Never give them everything at once . Always keep the people wanting more...It's GENIUS!

I would like to be remembered. I would like someone to miss me when I am gone. I think each person that has entered my life will hopefully remember me in different ways.

A caring person. Smart and witty. Talented and funny. Creative and honest. Nurturing, helpful and strong.

This is who I am.

Phew!!! I was beginning to think I was a freak for wanting to be remembered laugh Great qualities you mentioned  . It's interesting that you said that each person would hopefully remember you in different ways because I was thinking today that different people in our lives get to experience different incarnations of us so it makes sense that our colleagues at work, our family, our mates and our friends... All of them would probably remember us differently. Hmmmmm...

I would like to be remembered for the stones I took out of other peoples baskets. Most people don't even know what they were. I don't want to be anyone's hero I just want them to know that life was and could be lot harder than it is.

Hmmmm... Uniquely phrased Pacificstar . I am curious...How come you want people to know that life could be harder as opposed to wanting them to know that life could be infinitely better?
