Your story sounds alarming but are we getting the truth to this story and are you are making it look bad for the mother so you and partner gets custody?

Come on, it could be an accident or someone else done it, its not the mother though you would like to believe it is her.

two sides to every story...

DHS's goal is and always has been to preserve the family unit. many parents make mistakes with their children...and they offer parenting classes to TEACH. i don't think any parent should smoke around a child...but if they DID, i could see burns happening. plenty of children also get bit by little brothers...that, at least, isn't abuse. it's not even necessarily a lack of supervision.

every child gets bruises...if they don't, then they aren't being active. i've NEVER met a kid that didn't fall down, even regularly.

i have a MUCH bigger problem with the idea of meth being around...but unfortunately, drug abuse isn't child abuse (although they ARE synonymous, at least in MY mind. oh, wait...my mind doesn't count.)

even when there IS a problem, pulling the child out of the home isn't always the answer, and can cause even MORE issues. children need stability, and it's not healthy to have their entire world tossed upside down. hence the reason for parenting classes.

the idea is to find the least stressful and healthiest way to go about helping the child...and that's not always removal from the home.

hopefully, this child will receive whatever attention needed, and all adults receive the training needed to properly care for a child's needs.

whatEVER you do.. keep PUSHING!!!

and let HER know you're doing everything you CAN for her to be with you full time.. that alone will keep her going thru the roughest parts!

survivoring any kind of child abuse is very scarring!

I am an advocate for child protection.

I sense something is not right with this story so I am not gonna say what you want me to say.

I just wish you bloody adults act like adults and care for this child better instead of making her young life miserable.

"the police know everything that is going on and still do't do anything because they are scared of my fiance's daughter step father"

I can't really speak about anything else that is happening. But if you feel that the police are not acting correctly for some reason:

Call your state courthouse. Ask to speak to a Victim's Advocate in regards to a domestic abuse case. Explain the situation to them and why you think the police have not been responsive.

My second cousin had a cigarette burn on her arm, which her parents took her to a doctor to deal with. The doctor reported them to CPS. They took their daughter to another doctor, he reported them to CPS. They took their daughter to another doctor and he said "This is the worst Brown Recluse bite I have seen in a long time, she's lucky you brought her in when you did.". It's possibly not a cigarette burn, mistakes do happen. No offense to doctors, but they do a lot of guess work. If they haven't seen a case like yours before, they might not take the time to make sure they give the correct diagnoses.
