I know a guy is flirting with me when;

He actually reads my profile and send me something that references at least one my interests or where I live. Even if it is a bit of a razz like when Arizona beat our River Cats in a squeaker I got a cute little sympathy note.

He sends me a holiday or birthday greeting. Living in California I love the "snowy cards" at Christmas or when we are melting our flip flops in triple digit summer sizzle.

He references something I have said in a forum thread; especially if it backs up a similar view. I have dated three nice guys from when I was concerned over my Grandson that sent personal emails. It is great when your general community friends say something sweet or supportive but when someone follows up a couple times or more or sends helpful information you know it is not just being nice.

I know someone is flirting when they see when I am on line or when I haven't been for a couple days or more and drop a note " I am glad to see your back. It would be little creepy if it was every day but now or then that is nice.

I know they are flirting when they tell me they have put up a new photo of a similar interest or is a play on my name. Guy I am dating now sent me a picture of a Gardenia several days in a row. Then he did write it was polite and not to pushy.

I know someone is flirting with just me when he sends a private email an says This is my name and or phone number or where I go to church or volunteer if you would like to check me out I want you to feel safe lets email. Then he just lets it drop and doesn't do any arm twisting to get mine.

With all the fake wanna be military a Senior NCO who sent his current office phone number which is public information but would be much harder for a scammer to get to match with a photo made me know he was legit and not playing around.

I know someone is flirting when he asks me to a movie he has already seen because He knows I would like it.

I know he is flirting when he brings just me, or us coffee at the office. Especially when I am not there but on a certain day.

I know they are flirting when they play a practical Joke on me. When I had my gall bladder out a guy put a stork in my garden and told me to go outside and little note said See it could have been worse. I laughed so hard I thought I would pop my stitches.

I enjoy flirting, it's part of getting to know someone. I also see it as being intelligent and humorous when done properly with someone of a like-mind. It's an art-form when done in that way. I don't see it as a head on attraction if someone flirts with me, it's simply their nature. Some of the ladies in the forum are wonderful flirts when they want to be, and i see that for what it is...just a giggle. Sadly not everyone will see it that way if they don't like or understand it, but life would be pretty boring if we all thought the same way...

Ah yes. The intelligence mixed with humor is the art of it in my opinion too Justfun

And yes some people will see it for more than it is, but at the end of the day actions are the things that confirm feelings and once a person doesnt follow through with significant action, flirtation is merely smoke... not a fire happy

Yes flirting is also a good indicator of wit and humor. If someone keeps telling you, I don't get it, after a while you wisper to them, yes you won't get it either! It's a key to the inception of a dating relationship! It's a fun way to test the waters of compatibility.

I nominate you peggy. These post are always good for the dating scene!

Flirting can be so much fun, whether by words or gestures.

But in the SINGLE WORLD, at what point do you find flirting overbearing , excessive, or sleazy/slutty?

Does the person's attractiveness affect how receptive you are to their flirting or is it the delivery of the flirt that counts more than the person's looks?

Hi Peggywaving
In my last short relationship, on the first date he wanted call me his "baby girl". I found that odd on first date, too possessive, I didnt care for it really, if he was trying to flirt by complimenting me over and over, it got old already

Sounds like he was flirting with ownership.
He got rejected
and
you had lucky escape mad pitchfork oops
