I'm not a marine. though I have relatives who are.
however, I read your post and just want to tell you, when you see that things don't seem to be genuine, follow your instincts.
if things don't add up, there is a high probability of someone trying to impersonate in order to impress. be careful and good luck

Y'all don't know but Jamie is my sister.she's been talking to a guy on here that claims he is a marine in Afghanistan but he won't tell her his rank and won't say when his tour is up.matter of fact,he asks a lot of questions but won't answer very many of her questions.we're just trying to find out how to see if he actually is a marine or not

I'm not too clear on details but I'll ask someone I know.

I know military people often can't talk about their current assignment.
however, they often talk about where they trained and what some of the things they learned in different places where they were stationed.
it's been a while since my relative returned to civilian life. but I remember that when he would talk to other people who served, they have something similar to a class picture and he would often look up the pictures of his fellow servicemen. I'll ask and get back to you.
hope fellow minglers help you out as well.

Im not a marine, but I am prior Navy, I'd personally ask him his rank and also MOS, you already have an age....there are some ranks that just take time to achieve. .....

they are allowed to tell you those to things

The reason no Marines have replied is because it's in their standing orders for Internet use. Do not post pics with your uniform. When on social sites do not give out info as to you rank, status and operations. There are many Primitive radical islamists reading this site. Targeting military personel. You yourself could be in Islamaba, trying to get information.
No offense.

So if you are real, don't post stuff that will put our fighting forces at risk. I'm sure you didn't mean to do that, so please no apologies necessary. Like Reb said, trust your gut and move on.

Really easy actually without having him give out to much about the where he is or what he is actually doing

Ask him about prior places he has been? What he enjoyed most about each place, home town etc...

He very well maybe a Marine and he very well may not be.

I would listen to my gut.

OP Isaacs post gave me a good idea....ask the the supposed Marine what a squid is. If he replies.."Squid are cephalopods of the order Teuthida, which comprises around 304 species. Like all other cephalopods, squid have a distinct head, bilateral symmetry, a mantle, and arms."....he damn sure ain't a Marine.

Isaac will know what I mean....nothing personal Isaac drinker

I like asking pretenders the following:

"If a joint military crashes, and only a Navy Captain, A Marine Captain, two enlisted marines, and two enlisted Navy survives...based on rank alone who will be in charge?"

The true military guys know the answer...message me if you want to know who and why...don't want to tell the scammers how to up their game that much!

Jarheads.. Lol.. that was a interesting term used. You could say it to other Marines( not above your rank of course) and it was perfectly fine. but if a non Marine said it to a Marine, usually fists would fly.

Just one of those words that are o.k.... but not o.k.

I said to the marines in my class all the time...no issues....

True Blue marines are ok with Jarhead... I would know, I was raised by one :)

Currently he goes by Leatherneck LOL
