The only person I try to be better than, is my yesterday's self.
I more often than naught fail.
But now and then, I succeed.

Have you ever just thought this person is so much better than me because __________________?

Well my sister posted that I was the better sister today and it got me to thinking. There was a time in my life when I asked God, "Why did you take my sister? The third one four years younger than me died at birth. Why didn't you take me? Was she better than me that she didn't have to live through this and I did?

Well this coming from my 8 years younger sister. I had to tell her, I am no better. I have lived longer made more mistakes and learned from them. Life isn't about how many mistakes you have made. Life is about who you become from what you have learned. So I am sure there are stories. But how has this type of thinking at one.point affected your life?

I do think of some people I know and certain aspects of their life as better than me where I want to improve my life. I try to use it as a motivation to improve myself in those area's and be better that I was the day before, but not be better than the person that I admire.

I am sorry to hear about your younger sister but I would have to believe that God needed her with him and needed you here... I hope there is a life after this life and you get to meet your sister someday.

Because he was better then me! He never said a bad word about ANYONE.All he ever wanted was to make people laugh and feel good about themselves.

I do admire this trait in you of not trying to set yourself against someone or something else. You and you alone set your bar...
You do strive to be a better person each day and the awesome thing about this is the impact you have had on the people around you and yes you have...

First OP I do get asking God "Why" I know I did that when I lost my youngest sister. She was an amazing person...


Now on to this question. I did do this a lot in my life.

Til I chose to say instead I do the best I can and I refuse to judge myself by others.

Now I know I am no better or less than anyone else. I walk my walk as others do theirs.

We all do it differently and hopefully at the end of the journey we will lay down our heads and say we did the best we could mistakes and all.

No. But, I do find I admire other's qualities sometimes.

Typically, I tell them, and then we talk about it. They leave happy and I try to pick up and retain that quality I admired.
