Good Evening ya'll, my M2 family, the weather here in Philadelphia was lovely 70 degrees, I feel good enough to post another one of my hot teas so we get right into it. America, remember back in the day, when your favorite child actor or actress was on you had to watch for them. Shows like " Hannah Montana", " That's So Raven", " Family Matters", and we can go back as far as " A Different Stokes", " Facts Of Life", " The Brady Bunch" & many other shows that's classic. But it seems like as they got older , trying to adjust to adulthood they either never seen again or hooked on to some kind of drugs, or career just train wrecked itself off track. Why do our children who entertained fall victim to fortune and fame? Do you agree with children having that kind of responsibility to support whole families or the companies expects more which is hard pressure on a child's mind to be able to deliver? America, lets talk about who was your favorite child actors and what happen to there careers today?

I always love Dana Plato, from "Diff'rent Strokes"

She was, in my (never so) humble opinion, a natural beauty that could have done so much more than what she did. Sadly, she followed the path of so many other "child stars" and turned to drugs that eventually ruined her career and ultimately killed her.

EyeAM, I believe childrens minds are still developing (its something I touch on alot actually) and the human mind is developing up until sometimes as late as 25

so , during those ages, humans are more easily influenced or led astray, ,they function often off of a strictly impulsive and in the moment desire for adrenaline/acceptance/fun,,,or whatever

I believe there are child actors who have a solid network of family support(another common theme with me) when they start off, who can do well in the business, because they are more rooted and self aware than others their age , because they already have a solid place where they feel accepted/supported/cared for, and because that base can monitor and guide their actions and teach them coping skills as they go along

most of the hollywood kids that go off the rails, if you read their history, have very little family involvement before or during their career, so more scandalous people have an easier time isolating and controlling them,,,,,and leading them down dangerous paths

Firstly I loved different strokes. The little guy who used to say 'whatya talking 'bout Willis

I think it's sad when anyone's life goes off the rails. We as human beings seem to have this habit of building people up and then we wait for them to come crashing down, or at least some people seem to take great delight in it.

Michael Jackson, I mean wow.
Pink Floyd do a song, Shine on you crazy diamond. They'res a line in that song which says 'you were caught in the crossfire of childhood and stardom'. That one line reminds me of Jacko.

I'm not sure I believe the accusations against him either.

JoeTheBricky,

Welcome to my cyber home and I love your choices , the little guy was Gary Coleman. Even though he never used drugs but his life was train wrecked due to his parents taking a huge advantage of him and before he died his marriage was broken too. Wow, Wacko Jacko.....lol he was the king of pop,...lol but I'm glad you brought him up because Michael Jackson used drugs in his last days, the sleeping medication he was abusing it as well.

EyeAmYourHost39,

America EyeAM's Logic!

Wow I look back on young Hollywood and I have to say a lot of young actors & actresses did came back into there careers but a few was fallen. Remember Whitney & Her Daughter Bobbi Kristine? I mean people blamed Bobby Brown for getting Whitney hooked but if you caught the interview of Whitney's brother, he said she was getting high years before bobby. It might of just got worst when they got together. Now her daughter watch them through out the years and she started using. what a shame, what a shame

they had not so promising foundations,,,

Leif - absentee father
River - hippy parents who were never employed and never educated him
Dana - born to unwed teen ,adopted by parents who later divorced
Donny - abusive father(alleged)
Todd- no idea, except both parents were in the business, and maybe didn't parent as well as represent a client
Lindsey- not much there except for parents with troubled relationship
Robert - admits that his father surrounded him with drugs as young as 5
Orlando- Not sure who that is, or what his history is
Linda- I thought she was ok, actually
Kelly - no explanation really needed, is there? And she has improved.
Amanda- pretty lady, don't know much about her either,,,

the common factor though, seems to be something BROKEN in their life before they enter the Hollywood life,, Hollywood tends to make those rips wider,, not mend them

I think its easy to concentrate on the negative and completely miss the positive. The fact is that only some child actors train-wreck.

If train-wrecks are your focus it might be prudent to acknowledge that not all train-wreck actors are child actors. It might also be prudent to understand that train-wrecked personalities happen to people from all walks of life.

I see your point and I understand the influence it can have on our children that idolize them. See, that's where parenting comes into play. As parents of our children it is our job to point out the dangers of too much of a good thing without personal responsibility. It is also important for us to point out that fame does not always give the hearts desire, but sometimes the hard work and dedication of a few famous people can give success.

To blame television, movies or anything else for the bad behavior of your children is a cop-out. Violence in video games don't make your children violent, it is the lack of parenting that allows them to be violent.

I know you think I give you a hard time but my mind doesn't reside in the negative. Negativity is a sure way to get participation in any topic but to me, that is just adding fuel to the fire. Pointing out and complaining never changes anything for the better. It perpetuates more negativity.

If you want to have a good conversation about something consider exploring both sides of the coin. List some child actors that had great success or became pillars of the community from their stardom.

Tom4UHere,

Hey buddy love the new look you look 12 years younger, well I agree with some of what you say, but on a deeper scale these are the same kids parents sold them out. Think about it what I mean by sold them out? I'm not talking like a pimp to a call girl but on a higher scale. I give you more celebrity kids that path went dark.

Okay look what happen to Charlie Sheen. I mean during his prime he was the man he had it all, " The Wraith" had just drop every tiny bopping teen had his posters on there walls, the work was constantly coming in, and him and his brother Emilio & dad Martin Sheen was supporting him. As he got older he was presented to a prime time hit show " 2 In A Half Men". The show was funny, people gravitated to him like " Hey Charlie's like me, a wild man into hot chicks and an average many to say. Then my take is the show had too many expectations for him to carry. Not to mention he was in a crazy divorce from Denise Richards.

Because when they were child actors they were told that they were "stars".. by their agents.. the T.V. Companies.. their own families.

then many were type cast as that cute "kid on that show", but problem was, they were not a kid anymore.. but that's all people remembered them for.

And all those who rode the coat tails.. disappear.

Many were the victim of... greed, by the same entities as I listed above.. especially their families.

GreenEyes148,

Hello, welcome back , I honestly have to agree with what you said , its tuff as a child actor to shed there childhood skin into adulthood. Some can rebrand themselves, like Hilary Swank, Dakota Fanning, Haley Joel Osmond, just to name a few, but others didn't have it so great. Just like I see Winona Ryder in Beetle Juice to now she always keep herself relevant to all audiences. Greed & fame is to ones downfall.
