The poor treatment of women goes way back. Think Adam and Eve...

What I would like to know is why are some companies unfair to women?

Could you name a particular company and describe how they are unfair to women?

I mean there's a difference between "f'n NFL! Why are there no female linebackers! It's unfair!"
and "F'n schools and Hobby Lobby, they hire mostly women! It's like they assume women are the best teachers and crafters! That's unfair to stereotype women!"
and "F'n Navy Seals with their unfair tests that don't cater to women's differences in strength!"
and something like "F'n Dunkin Donuts with their written policy that 2 men have to be hired before any 1 woman for no apparent reason!"

Other than that, as a vague hypothetical, it seems rather easy to answer. Companies aren't individual entities (except as seen by the law apparently), they are what the people running them make them.

Life isn't fair. People aren't fair.
Might as well ask why the Saudi Arabians sell most of their oil only to rich people rather than either distribute it equally to everyone, or favor developing countries that don't have oil.

Lots of people develop strength and find purpose in their individual life overcoming inherent unfairness (as opposed to just complaining about something being unfair and that someone else should do something about it).

life/nature is the ultimate fairness... no hate or love involved, it just gives and takes as it pleases, without any thought process to muck it up...
