After 2 days, I have 14 matches who I cannot see because I haven't upgraded. |

Actually the mutual match was ALWAYS the way the free one is now. It was meant as nothing more than a fun way to connect. Seeing who said yes came when the upgrade came.

You can really just read through profiles and message people, go on searches, like yellowrose said.
