CAMELOT is great. I played a Knight in a live stage production here in Montgomery, Alabama at the Candlelight Dinner Theatre in 1985. The character I played was Sir Colgrevance.

SOUTH PACIFIC is one I remember that my parents took me to see. I still have a romantic feeling when I hear BALI HAI.

They just did around Christmas ... a Christmas story ... seemed as a musical ... I liked the narrator... but stopped watching it ...
becouse the movie was better and don't believe they could have made a good musical out of that story ... maybe the kids liked it but I pretty much thought the NRA must have invested in it

I can remember years ago, after we had play rehearsals in high school, one of our classmates took about 9 of us home in his parents VW bus. We always listened to JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR on the way home. I still remember the music, and the lyrics, and the sight of all of us singing, and listening.

Yes I Love Musicals Always Have & Always Will,My All Time FAVORITE Is Grease:-))) Every Thing About It The Story,The Characters,The Sets,The Costumes & Of Course The Music:-) I Have Watched It At Least A Billion Times Over & Over & Over & I Will Never Get Tired Or Bored Of It Ever!!!!!! There is a whole generation of films that were made that promote the 'musical' genre.
Look back at the films of the 194o's thru the 60s. Actors/Actresses were basically 'required' to have some kind of talent in song or dance. Cue up any film from that era and you will get some kind of talent display. More contemporary films still have that basic blueprint for the main reason. They are still being made. However, can you imagine Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone or Mark Wahlberg singing and dancing in a film? How 'out of place' would that seem? Even television shows have dedications to the musical. Look at Buffy the Vampire Slayer where they did a completely musical episode. (Season 6; Episode 7: Once More, with Feeling) Can any of them dance like Fred Astaire? How many blockbusters erupt into a song segment like Shirley Temple or Annette Funicello once did? Most recently I watched a wonderful musical called High Voltage (2018) Hollow Body (original title). In this case, the singing and 'performing' is not the focus of the film but it does exist. Many films you might not classify as 'musicals' really are musical. |
