should be good for the marijuana?

Supporters of legalizing recreational marijuana in New Jersey, including Gov.-elect Phil Murphy, intend to forge ahead despite a Thursday announcement from Attorney General Jeff Sessions signaling tougher enforcement of existing federal marijuana laws. “Governor-elect Murphy believes strongly in New Jersey’s right to chart its own course on legalizing marijuana, which will allow for law enforcement to focus their time and resources on prosecuting violent crimes rather than non-violent drug offenders,” Murphy’s spokesperson, Dan Bryan, said in a statement. I have always wondered why drinking and getting drunk are so celebrated in our culture but getting high has been made a political time bomb of some sort. (Shrugs)

I think it all comes down to tradition. Drinking alcohol, and smoking tobacco products have been a part of Western Europe, and thereby American culture for centuries. Marijuana use has not. That's why the restriction of alcohol back in the twenties was rapidly overturned, but the recognition that tobacco is horribly dangerous and should be prohibited altogether STILL has little support.

When you look at someone under the effects of alcohol you can easily see that they are drunk because their motor skills are affected.

When you look at someone under the effects of THC, it is more difficult to detect because their motor skills are not greatly affected.

Marijuana is the Great White Buffalo Spiritual experience where alcohol is the Bull in a China Shop Physical experience.

The government entity likes alcohol because it doesn't give the user spiritual awareness. The marijuana user can think and become aware of things. The government doesn't want people being aware. They want sheeple that follow blindly. They are easier to control. You would think the government would want people on THC because one of the side effects is complacency. We get 'mellow'.

Consider that marijuana requires no elaborate processing to make it effective. Alcohol requires processing. Alcohol does occur in nature during the process of decay. Lots of animals get 'drunk' on fermented fruit. Perhaps that is how we started using alcohol, eating fermented grapes.

I think the main reason marijuana was illegal was because it couldn't be effectively regulated at that time. Hemp was a crop used in industry. Ever heard the phrase "Smoke A Rope"?
We now have the ability to regulate and tax marijuana use.
I believe it could surpass alcohol.
Both have negative effects, they are just different.
Of the two, alcohol is far more dangerous.

I agree Msharmony ...

years ago I was on the other side of this ...
did not think it to be right ... but I have been shown how it can make others feel much better ...if they have a illness that this works for them ... it is going to be legal here soon also ... not sure how that will go ... but they give medical cards for them to use it... so long as they feel they can control it ... I believe they should stop and go after the larger fish as they say ... and let cannabis alone ... stop putting those in jails for this ... some countries use this in Hospitals for patients ... this should be allowed here also ... an others react differently to it but that is like any other kind of medication ... so I believe it to be allowed sooner then later ...
and might be made for profit like alcohol and cigarettes are today ...
even with the risks ...

I don't smoke pot Because as a teenager when I did all wanted to do was eat Ring Ding cupcakes and drink chocolate milk. And you can't go thru life like that.

That being said

I feel that alcohol is much more damaging then pot, much more. Actually I think Pot is very good for some people as it helps with pain and with eating. People smoke pot and thy are mellow. That is not the affect seen with alcohol.

So in my opinion it should be legalized entirely.

The reason alcohol is not regulated as pot is , is because it is a very big business.

In time, it will be totally legalized and Uncle Sam will be the first one in line to take his cut of the profits. He is not going to let that cash cow slip away.
