Yes I guess you're right there diserli,
I was thinking more about the opportunists with the school shootings,.
I've occasionally poked my nose into this thread and nobody has an answer do they, I certainly don't, not that it's anything to do with me but like to show an interest.

Truth be told Mikey4you, there will always be school shootings and mass shootings, America history if full of tragedies since the 1700's to today.

there is nothing Politicians can do to stop it, truth be told they are making it worse .

Look at your country for instance, every mass shooting resulting in new and stricter gun control.

you know this better than any of us, how many stabbings have there been in Londonstan since Jan 1st of this year?

How many home break ins or "hot burglary" as its called?

Politicians have a way of mucking things up and creating more laws and for what? some knows how to get around them or find other means of destruction and death.

Except that Criminals dont give a damn about the law

Mentally unstable people hell bent on killing innocent people dont give a rats azz about the law.

some Irresponsible gun owners do care about the law and there should be laws to punish them for their irresponsibility.

Most law abiding citizens are being punished because of the aforementioned people.

like everything, its a matter of perception

of course many criminals dont care about the law, but the law is what DEFINES them as criminals so they can be prosecuted within social expectations.

I dont see any law as 'punishment'. I dont feel 'punished' as a responsible driver just because there are speed limits, or automobile regulations, or smog checks.

I dont feel 'punished' as a responsible parent just because there are laws about supervising and caring for children.

the way I perceive it , it is the truly RESPONSIBLE that wont have problems with laws enacted to keep some order and minimize danger to others ...

Im not trying to be azzhole but what you've posted makes no sense, or maybe I wasn't clear in my posting.

Comparing gun laws to regulations for cars, children safety ?

Getting a drivers license and owning a car is a privilege, having children is a privilege not a right.

Comparing "Rights" and "privilege" laws is intellectually dishonest.

It has nothing to do with perception it has to do with reality.

America is a unique country where gun ownership is a right, not a privilege but it has it limits and that is what is being argued.

so the only difference is in being a 'right'? So how come people having the RIGHT to free speech cant yell FIRE in a crowded theater?

how come people with the RIGHT to exercise religion freely MUST create art that supports things they religiously oppose?

how come people with the RIGHT of free press, can be sued for libel and slander?

how come citizens with the RIGHT to vote are restricted based upon IDS or past incarceration

because no RIGHT exists that is ABSOLUTE enough to ignore the issue of public safety.

including the RIGHT to bear arms, which doesn't say ALL ARMS, or ANY ARMS, just ARMS (for a militia, which we no longer have with a standing army, but thats another discussion), which are still amply available to all who are stable enough to have and afford them

there is no intellectual dishonesty going on whatsoever

yes, gun control is about what LIMITS there should be on gun manufacture for retail and sale, as well as what LIMITS on ownership .. and I know many responsible gun owners who have no problem with 'gun control' when referring to such laws or regulations ...

why you cant yell fire in a crowed movie theater? Schenck v. United States says you cant, the 1st amendment doesn't protect you from "dangerous speech"

how come people with the RIGHT to exercise religion freely MUST create art that supports things they religiously oppose?

In America you have that right in my country you dont, in most countries they dont because of fear of violent backlash.

how come people with the RIGHT of free press, can be sued for libel and slander?

Because defamation laws exists, freedom comes with a price.

how come citizens with the RIGHT to vote are restricted based upon IDS or past incarceration

Because felony disenfranchisement laws are constitutional Richardson v. Ramirez 1974.

and as in for ID's to vote the "Help America Vote Act 2002" , because of the problems in the 2000 election between Gore and Bush particularly in Florida .

oh you are going with the Militia argument of your second amendment, uh huh.

Except that the language of back then isn't the same language of today, Militia back then doesn't mean what Militia means today.

And arms meant "fire arms"

back then Ejaculation meant "something said quickly and suddenly"you would see that in some Jane Austin novel and authors of that era, but today Ejaculation means something different Im sure I dont have to go any further.

Same thing with Militia.

So bottom line is you want to control or have the government control how much guns one can buy from gun stores and guns shows.

Ahhhhhhhhhh, interesting.

bottom line is actually this

the constitution doesnt protect you from 'being a danger to others'

just like it doesnt protect you from 'dangerous speech'

I would like to see regulations enforced which do not have MILITARY style weapons in civilian hands or other types of arms in the hands of emotionally unstable citizens.

Our standing military is well regulated, with certain things like age and ability requirements, Id like to see similar training and regulation with our 'militia' of citizens who wish to own arms ...

how are going to regulate getting guns out of people who are mentally unstable?

Do you think think mentally unstable people have signs on their chest or back saying " hey Im mentally unstable"?

You cannot legislate whats in a person heart, there are some people who are taking medication that can function and they can fool you , so who or what determines mental instability?

Personally I like what Japan does before they give out a license to own a gun, the problem is their system will not work in America

Ive never said the constitution protects you from being a danger to others, I said it protects you from dangerous speech, this is why you cant yell "fire" in a crowed theater.

You asked why you cant yell fire and I gave the reason why.

The bottom line is you want to see guns out of the hands of the mentally unstable, and I agree with you 1000%

I dont agree with you on restricting gun ownership for people, or the type of weapons they should own, the "military"style weapon is easier to handle for most people, its unfortunate that deranged people uses them.
