Can't Washington DC leaders control this opium epidemic that is increasing all the time here in the USA!!!!

Not really.
A lot of the opioids/opioid deaths are from prescription/prescription abuse.
It's not like they're made in a tiny village in Columbia run by a drug cartel with ak-47 wielding soldiers watching the farmers and sorters, smuggled in by submarine to Mexico.

"The Wall" will still have doors in it, allowing "legal" trade.
Mexican cartels still smuggle in a large part of their drugs by hiding it in perfectly legal shipments.

Getting rid of NAFTA, absolutely closing the border with Mexico, and sanctioning anything absolutely that comes from there "may help some!"
But just erecting a wall won't really help.

hehehe...pulling in all of our military from overseas, then empire building by invading Mexico (and maybe south America), killing at least everyone in a gang or cartel would "help some!"
But we'd probably lose a lot of allies and be sanctioned by other countries.

People love their drugs. Makes life better.
Sugar. High fructose corn syrup. Alcohol/wine/beer. Nicotine. Heroin. Meth. Pot/THC. Dopamine. Adrenaline. Endorphins. Even Oxytocin. Antidepressants. Whatever.
People chase feeling "good" and "happy" and want to rewrite reality their own way.

The wall wont do much..there are better ways to protect the borders ..as far as the opioid or any drug problem it has many prongs to it..One has to address all ..whether it be homelessness,self medication or people who have mental issues..it's not going to happen..


It has to be systematically controlled with MAJOR oversight and lot's of funding..it's never going to happen and it's never going away...


And then there's GREED..good luck with that one...

You guys have some very good points, makes me think controlled drugs is never going to happen. How sad! And the cost keeps increasing as well.

As long as politicians continue to
become wealthy from pharma pay-offs,
absolutely nothing will be done to stem
the tide.

Maybe Trump can help take care of it! He's already Rich.
