Yeah, welcome to the world of "internet dating sites." Sadly, there are many who utilize such sites for unscrupulous reasons, which ruins things for everyone. Women become less trusting in general and the honest guys out there bear the brunt of guilty until proven innocent.

Nonetheless, welcome and good luck. Just be smart about giving out too much information until you really know who it is you are dealing with.

Hi Fry, and welcome. Hopefully you saw the advice I gave to the other poster. Honestly, you're better off meeting people in the forums. It may be a little more difficult to find someone local to you that way but at least you can get a decent idea of what people are really like. Plus, you'll pick up some wisdom from those who have been there, done that. Bear in mind that these forums are not live chat per se - so it's not like you can engage in real time conversation as most jump from forum to forum but if you're inclined to give it a chance you might have fun in the process.
