Hi again, guys. waving
Everyone has a past they want to remember or to forget. So tell me (only if you're comfortable to talk about it), what kind of memories or experiences are those? smile2

I have a very good, trained memory.
Many people have a notion that a person can't remember being in the womb but I do. Its more of a sensation recall than remembering a date or a passage from a book.
I also recall segments of my infancy, childhood and early dreams.

I spent some time experimenting with sensory deprivation in college both with and without mind altering substances.
I participated in a sleep deprivation study conducted by the military and later in life attended public speaking seminars which included memory refinement.

There are times I wish I had a bad memory.
I usually remember faces but names give me a problem if I haven't seen that person in decades.
I don't really celebrate my birthday so birthdays are not important to me so I seldom recall birthdays unless they are loved ones.

I have great sensational recall ability and smells often trigger a memory barrage.
I can remember action sequences but sometimes the specific participants require focus for identification.
I remember how people interact with me more than statistical specifics.
For remembering statistical specifics I employ what is called memory association.
Memory association is where I assign a memory detail to a thing which triggers a flow of specific details about the memory.

Bad memories are like looking in a rear view mirror ...
Your not going in that direction ....I would just prefer to touch on good memories like my 2children when they were born...when my children were young..when I was married all the trips we took and quality family time we had...

sometimes you are going in that direction. sometimes going forward is not prudent; sometimes not possible.

sometimes a rearview mirror is a wholly helpful tool.
sometimes, it's the best tool one has.

I've had all sorts of abuses, embarrassments, and humiliations in my past.

Remembering them can be like reliving them at times.

But I don't think I would opt to erase them from my memory even so, because the lessons I learned because of them would, I fear, revert to being unlearned, and make me vulnerable all over again.

My bad. I know some people would be hesistant to share those bad memories. It's like reliving a part of them which they try to totally erase from their lives. IMHO, those things either good or bad has become a part of who we are now.
In my case, I'd like to forget the biases of my previous boss. How she dealt with her staff unfavorably.

I have a past I want to remain there. The future is what I seek but unfortunately the future will in time become the past.

I do not want to remember the year 2012.

In 2000 I gave many exams at the faculty. Maybe I got a record in school. that was good.
I want to remember this...smile2
